...still searching for the perfect EDC folder. I used to love my Declica until I lost it and replaced it with the newer metal clip models, which constantly bend on me for some reason. The CRKT Kasper is good, but something feels a little off as far as grip. My Scallion I wish was larger. My Supertool is way handy, but just doesn't seem quite right with slacks and dress shirt. My Timberline Wortac I like a lot, but a little too threatening to whip out and use a work. My Triple Action Tanto is also threatening and doesn't sit right in a front pocket. I could go on and on with some rather unimpressive folders that I also have.

I want something light, yet solid, easy to carry, easy to access and engage in one motion, feels secure in my rather large hands, great for general use as well as self-defense, love to knifesterbate with, and all for under $100 bucks.

Any suggestions?
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
FM.

And I will say it again. Camillus EDC.

> Light, yet solid. You picked the words, the knife fits em.

> Easy to carry. Sits in the pocket nicely, the clip is very firm. Even works nicely as a money clip for that accessory to go with the slacks and dress shirt you mentioned.

> Access and engage in one motion? You can pull it off with an EDC.

> Feels secure in large-ish hands.

> Great for general use. Self defense? Not my department, sorry.

> Love to knifesterbate with? Hmmmm. You got me on this one. The frame lock gives a satisfyingly solid *snick* and is a pleasure to unlock as well. As to any erotic effects, you'll uhhhh, have to play with it yourself to find out.

> All for under 100 bux. Yep, all of em except the Talonite one.

> Even the name is EDC, which after all, is what you were looking for in the first place.
;)

Camillus EDC is the way to go

Fairly light and totally solid , no blade play at all.

Carries easy, with one of the best pocket clip designs that I've ever seen.

Not at all threatening, and if by "access and engage" you mean one hand open it has that too

Good blade shape for general use; self-defense really isn't my thing either but I can't imagine that it wouldn't cut somebody if you tried

It's not balisong-style flipping fun to open, but It opens very smoothly if thats what knifesturbating means.

Plus Camillus is considered to have one of the best customer service and warranty policies in the industry.

I'm not sure how secure it would feel in "large hands", but with those cutouts in the sides it has a nice grippy feel without being abrasive.

If i had to name something I don't like, I would prefer a slightly pointier blade, but thats just personal preference.

I would also reccommond the Gerber Air Ranger, it is a great deal for what you get. Comes in two sizes too.

Microtech makes some of the finest production folders out there rivaled only by Mr. Chris Reeve

if your on a budget get yourself a MT LCC can be had for 170 or so and doesn't look very scary and LEOs probably won't hastle you as much as if it were a socom elite of vector. i carry a LCC every day that i did a little custom work and i'll never get rid of it. its built like a tank very solid and the strongest linerlock i've found. hope this helps:cool:

Although it's a little on the "small-side", I'll also suggest a Camillus EDC folder. This little folder looks great in either slacks or Levis. Then there is also the stainless Spyderco Native to consider...).

You used to love your Delica, right? Check out the Pro Grip Lightweight, which still comes with the older plastic clip, has a great utilitarian blade, and is offered in either combo or plain edge. You're not going to beat the quality control or customer service of Spyderco. With that said, I have to admit, the Camillus EDC looks might nice.

I cant open the Camillus EDC!! But the kershaw vapor is smooth as silk!!

for a 100 bucks you can get a benchmade axis-lock, there are many types to choose from with this lock, and they are just good all around knives, many sizes and styles, i am sure that you can find one that fits your desire for size weight and look. (personally i'd buy that blue plan/satin 940 that someone has for sale for $95)

on the cheap side a BM TSEK can be had for a little more than $60, and it has the AFCK's handle with a more utility oriented GIN-1 blade. It also has steel liners (Ti on AFCK) so its stronger and stiffer (Ti is stronger per weight, but steel beats Ti by volume)

but we all know that you wont stop!

PS axis locks are good to Knifesturbate with

I've found my perfect EDC. I just can't afford that Sebenza yet. For under $100, I highly recommend a Spyderco Endura. If you shop at the right place, you could get two of them if your Hell-bent on spending the whole wad of cash.:D

OR......you could spend 10-15 bux on an Opinel and buy a clue with the change. :)

Regards,

Pat

The Camillus EDC is a great knife for the money, but for my large hands, I prefer the Benchmade Griptilian as an everyday carry folder. It's lightweight, quick and easy to deploy, and fills my hand perfectly. The blade shape is just right for utility purposes and self defence if the need arises.

Well, Mr. Fogarty it looks like one of your posts has killed another thread. Thank Goodness you don't post more often. :p

Just how much does it cost to buy a "Clue"?
I'm sure you were trying to be as helpful to Flyingmonkey with your suggestion as Paul was with his. You know that for any question asked on these forums that someone is going to answer "Sebenza", and for some it is. For most it's just a running joke. Not that a Sebenza is a joke, I've never heard anyone suggest that it's not a great knife, it is. But, it's not the answer for everyone. I agree a $10 Opinel will do just about everything most humans need a knife to do, so anything you pay beyond that is just bells & whistles.

I thought that my Large Sebenza would be my EDC, and for years, it was. However, after wearing thru many right rear jeans pockets, tearing chairs, etc, I decided it was time to start clipping my EDC to my right front jeans pocket. Alas, the Large Sebenza is too large to carry comfortably, still put a small SAK there, and get my hand in. Conclusion, a smaller knife was needed for my EDC. I do plan on buying a small Sebenza for that duty. However, until I raise the $ for that, I've been carrying a small Spyderco Wegner Jr, plain edge. I absolutely love it. Who knows, the small Sebenza might never make it as my EDC.
These small Wegners are very hard to track down, but there's still a few out there. Plus, for the $, I've never seen a higher quality knife. Actually, mine is as close to perfect as I've ever seen.
Spyderco definitely gives you your money's worth.

I love my Endura, and my Delica..
both are comfy and easy to hide away from prying eyes...affordable, and practical.

Micro/LCC is a fav of mine too... a little more agressive than the Spydies but solid, fast, and multi-tasking (i think Bill Gates was part of the design team... no, wait.. the LCC actually works..so he cant have anything to do with it)

The Chinook is also a good option... as is the native..

I happen to have rahter large hands, and where my friends are ok with thier smaller AXIS LOCK blades, I need something AT LEAST the size of a NATIVE.

My NATIVE is sweet, but I too have had clip problems. I would look into REKAT's PIONEER line. I usually carry a BM 705, but again, it is small in my hands, but still quite useful. The 710 is WAY too large.

I carry a REKAT Pioneer II Tanto in a nylon or leather sheath, and it is perfect for everything, with the large grip providing tremedous purchase of the piece.

I've got several perfect small EDCs: David Boye custom lockbacks, Benchmade 705, Benchmade 941 (or 940), Benchmade 690-01, Spyderco Native, Benchmade Mini AFCK 812HS. The Camillus EDC is quite nice too. The Benchmade 941 and 690-01 are my too favorite front pocket carries right now. Both are great little cutting tools, and quite interesting knife-wise.

I always say Camillus EDC, and I will here again. Did get to handle a CRKT Tighe Tac this weekend and was surprised by that knife -- and it's only around $40 large or small.

As Phil was so nice to point out, yes, the Sebenza had to be brought up.:) Granted, it's not for everyone.
The Opinel is one of my favorite designs. I like simplicity.
The Spyderco Native is also a very good choice as is the Camillus EDC.
Bottom line, get what appeals to you the most. If that means saving a little extra money, so be it.

Paul

I wish to thank everyone for the input. I'll probably get the Camillus EDC, first, due to the mass appeal and recommendation.
