For the last week the dogs have just pounded pavement with my son as I was working. Today was my first day off and wouldn't you know it I awoke to a perfect fall day so off out we went !
What a day eh !
As we left the lakeside the trail grew thick with fallen leaves~
As we hiked up the hill I was suprised to still find bunches of berries on the Arbutus trees, a possible food source for the hungry survivor. I'd not tasted these in a while and found these today weren't actually all that bad. The longer you chewed them for the more bitter the taste so best bet is to swallow them down pretty quick !
At the top there was still a good frost on the ground, shown here along with my TTSK~
Some great views on a day like today !
Even with all the rain we've had it is still possible to get damp tinder to light. I ground up a little dried resin with some damp old mans beard and seed pods~
Took a few strikes to establish a flame but still not too hard~
Maisy hardly ever sits still long enough for a pic so I liked this one even though it's a little blurry !
