Perfect Knife

I have dozens and dozens of knives. Some I like, some I really like but may not carry due to size or lack of practicality for everyday use (ex. Commander & Matriarch).
O ther knives I own are just perfect for carry and everyday use. The knife That I sm starting to see as the most perfect is my large William Henry Spearpoint in carbon fiber. It is feathery light, the edge is plenty sharp, and the scales are beautiful. Also, the action of the knife is smooth and effortless. The only thing slightly annoying is that it rides high in the pocket. The Wh is not my only carry piece, but it is my favorite. At least until I get a small Sebenza!

I don't know how many times I thought I had the perfect knife but to only find out down the road I don't. I have come to realize that there is no such thing as the perfect knife, but yes I do agree that many come close

Who says close only counts playing horseshoes? Not I!

I used to view it that way. Now I view it as my perfect "steel". At the current time that happens to be BG-42, therefore I seek those makers using this steel. Makes selection a whole lot easier.

I would have to agree with TANGUS!
Thats how I select my knives now. I go by the steel I like which happens to be BG-42 also.

Right now my perfect knife is the Greg Lightfoot 458 Millenium Magnum I just got. This thing is Sweeeeet! BG42 double ground tanto blade (not chisel ground). Titanium bolsters and carbon fiber scales. It will remain my perfect knife until my next purchase, maybe a Kit Carson model 4. There are so many perfect knives out there.

So many knives-so many uses. It is nearly impossible to have a "perfect knife" for all uses. Chopping and digging in a survival situation is different than opening mail and trimming fingernails. Point being, my Puma White Hunters serve me well while hunting and camping, but a 532 is nice around the office. You almost have to catagorize the many uses we put our knives through and then pick perfect knives for each catagory.

Herecy!!
The perfect knife does not and can not exist. I mean .. then the search would be over. NO this can not be. As is the search for truth and inner peace the perfect knife is something sought after but always just out of reach. We are only mortal after all !! Like spiritual enlightenment it is something we most spend our lives dilegently working toward.

I thought someone really found the perfect knife. Could have shaken my whole belief structure.

I have many perfect knives. It's all in how you look at it.

My most recent perfect knife is a crooked knife.

Hoodoo

The low, hoarse purr of the whirling stone—the light-press’d blade,
Diffusing, dropping, sideways-darting, in tiny showers of gold,
Sparkles from the wheel.

If someone made the "perfect" knife, I'm pretty certain you would see all knifemakers either making that same knife or quitting the trade. Perfection is like beauty. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

I agree with GaKnife, perfection is in the eye of the beholder. For example, i'm not a big folder person, but a Battle Mistress is a bit hard to carry around all day (and even harder to explain to the cops). I don't think there ever can be a "perfect" knife, unless it could change to whatever you needed at a voice command

Anyway, with such a knife, what would i do with all my spare time i currently use searching for it?

People who say knives are innefective weapons have never been stabbed

I think it was Ed Fowler who once said, "If you make the perfect knife, then you will be the first one".
The perfect knife would have so many criteria to fulfill I don't think ANY one knife can ever fill that bill.
But if you find the perfect knife, please let me know. I'm getting kinda tired of searching for it.

Nothing is perfect 'cause nobody is perfect.
I agree with you, cut finger, that small Sebenza is the GREAT knife - my favorite till NOW, but life is continuing ...
