So a while back there was a thread that was created that asked what would be some of the features you would prefer on a fixed blade.

I rattled off a list, and after a few days I was contacted by Richard338 Richard338 .

He stated that he had also pictured a similar design that accentuated the same characteristics.

He then graciously offered to build one with some light input from myself, and to send it to me to try out.

What was born was an amazing knife, made from Magnacut, with design cues that accentuate cutting performance.

Thin, hard, and a size and length that bridges many uses.

And it has been glorious.

He even decked it out with a sheath from azwelke azwelke , that fits perfect.

This blade cuts. And cuts. And keeps cutting.

There are many design elements that I will call out over time, as I plan to continue using this blade for...well...everything.

Mahalo again Richard338 Richard338 . This beauty has been more than impressive, and your work is top notch. Not to mention your character as well.

Coconuts? No problem.

Prepping crab that was caught by hand. Yup!

I don't use pesticides on my sweetcorn fields. So that means worms, but I pre-cut the tips. Easy peasy with this blade.

A small sample of the work done. This particular day I topped 2000 ears.

No corrosion and still sharp.

Very cool, and looking forward to seeing more use pics. Blade length about 5"?
Good eye!

The sheath and first finger groove is in harmony.

Finger placement and a thumb on the sheath makes withdrawing intuitive.

Thin profile means it's unobtrusive when belt carried.

Butt of the handle is sloped, which translates into comfort.

The guard allows for your hand to tuck in, and the shallow jimping gives a solid grip for your thumb.

I'm thrilled that it has performed as we hoped so far. As you know I have the second one myself and it's my current favorite around the house. I haven't used mine as much by the sounds of it but I love how it cuts and works in different grips. Your design ideas to have no choil and to angle the plunge back to provide more clearance are winners I would say. I look forward to more thoughts as you work with it some more.

I really, really like the plunge angled back as well.

Many fixed blades I use have it angled forward. Many times when cutting, the thicker portion of the knife in this area hangs up on the medium being sliced.

Looking good! I need to try some magnacut in my daily uses as well.
Thanks! And so far I'm very happy with this custom. To be fair, I have not had to sharpen it yet, so I have no idea how much work that will take. But I do have a nice array of diamond stones that should work just fine.
Very nice !
Thank you!
Nice!!! Enjoy that puppy!!
Thanks, and will do. It's been a hoot so far.

Nate, that’s pretty cool. I have no doubt it’ll get put to good use on the farm and dealing with seafood. I will be curious what you think of the blade length for dressing game when you get out on another hunt and harvest something.

Mahalo! I have cleaned one deer so far, and it works great for how I harvest. I usually debone in the field, so the length is great for looping off big chunks into packable pieces.
Now I’m really hungry!!!
🤣🤣🤣
I am always down to eat too!
This looks like a winner, thanks for sharing the details of its origin. Please keep us apprised of its performance in the future.
Mahalo, and I will keep on using it and see how it goes. So far, so good.
