Performance reports from owners of 30-inch sirupatis and kobras?

To the owners of the giant 30-inch sirus and kobras, I have a request for some performance reviews. Anyone care to comment on the practicality and/or actual field performance of these long khuks? My concern is that the length, weight, and one-handedness (short handle as compared to a katana for example) would compromise their actual performance and practicality. The beauty and coolness factor, however, is something I won't argue about. In short, they are freaking awesome to look at and think about.

Any comments?

I've done some work with a 30" sirupate. There is one job in particular that I favor this length for over the shorter ones: clearing blackberry thickets. The additional length keeps my hand out of the briers. Other than that, I'd rather have something shorter and lighter.

Be advised that the kobras are not recommended for actual work; they are designed primarily as weapons.

Dave is right. I had a ~25" Kobra that was like a heavy machete in usage... but I also tested it on trees and chopped down three... you will get tired before the Kobra gets hurt. Personally I don't think the longer Kobras are light weapons, but compared to other kukris they definitely can be swung around more quickly.

I just got a 30" Kobra. I haven't used it yet. I can't imagine swinging it one-handed for long. However there is enough room on the handle for a two-handed grip.

I got my 25inch Kobra for chopping on springy Honeysuckle branches both up high without the need to use a ladder and for use on the lower branches without the need to bend over and possibly strain my back.

I gave my machete to a friend since I started using my Tarwar for hacking stuff. Oh sure - its heavier. But it hacks through stuff with one chop. Harder to swing, but I end up swinging fewer times. The Bamboo Cutter is also a beast in the brush.
