I'm not even sure how to search this one out (if I can) that little loop of leather on the top of the belt loop....what's it for?? I've been wondering since I first saw it,thought it might become clear what it's for when I got one but...it's not :D

Steve I'm laughing so hard right now....that's what I thought it looked like!

A knife with a coat-like hanger? just when I think I've seen it all! well now I know how I'm gonna keep it

Thanks for the info.

I have wondered about that little loop myself. Thanks for posting this question.

I use the loop to hang mine- funny that I never considered what the loop was there for, I just was glad it was there.

The loop serves mainly a decorative and ornamental purpose today.

Traditionally it was slightly larger and provided a last line of defense.

When people wore robes or tunics if a fighter was deprived of his khukuri he could take the sheath and loop his opponents gonads and twist:eek: Rendering him helpless while the fighter could gouge out his eye with the karda.

That may be true of an 18-19 khuk hollowdweller, but not a '25 khuk! the karda is a knife unto itself!!

True. The ones with the YCS are huge too.

I always assumed it was a loop for some kind of tab or hook on your belt - sort of a 'light carry, quick remove' option.

They work great for hanging from nails.

Don't be afraid to tighten the knots or retie them entirely. I've had a few that were loose.

I wondered that very thing myself...Guess it makes sense huh??:D

Hollow...I flat love that karda bro...If it had a 3-31/2 in blade in that profile it would be perfect as a belt knife...Anyone got an extra they wanna trade?:p

Wonder if Yangdu could have some made??

'less I'm wrong Leatherface those kardas do pop all by themselves.
HEY! hollowdweller! did'ja get too comfy with your khuk? :p nice band-aid :D

That's been a while back. Got the YCS and lost my grip as it was coming out of the sheath as I recall. Cut me bad enough I went to the ER but they just superglued it.:D I think my out of pocket was $400. I bought a tube myself after that.:jerkit:

Leather,

Krull's right. Not long ago as I recall there were some 14" and nearly a pound for sale here. Also some smaller ones too I think.

Talk about dumb..... I didn't know what loop yall were talkin' about, till
I looked another time at today's deals. My BAS has the military style frog, which doesn't have the loop.
Kinda a handy feature, I think. Great for hanging yur khuk in a tent or lean-to,
to keep it off a damp floor etc..

Daddy,

It's pretty easy to put one on there with a leather punch, and some leather boot lace. In fact the leather boot lace is more substantial. On some of the house khuks we use a lot I've replaced the original where it's broken from hanging on the coat rack.

thanks guy's...I have been lusting after the Kardas for awhile now...Would love to get one like Hollow is holding, although with a slightly smaller blade

We got lawenforcement types around here ya know?:D

Yea I know that I could get Dan to make me one, but I have plans on a Dankura before I get a custom Karda...Hopefully the kamis will get around to making a few before I lose my self control..:p
