hello, i come from norway, and here balisongs are forbidden. but balisongs are the most fantastic knife ever made, and i really want to have a few :)
but since they are illegal in my country, i was wondering if anyone knew if i could get some sort of permission to collect such knives, and that way own them legally? has anyone personal experiences about this? or if you just want to give me advices, that would be fine.

thanks. :)

Hei gutten!

In Sweden it's possible to get a permit to collect bali-song and auto knives.
My impression is that it's somewhat more liberal in Norway, but i might be wrong...

Talk to your local police department, or e-mail me... ;)

hey hey, neighbours! ;p
ah, your manners are forgiven. :)

do you have such a permission? is it hard to get? do you have to have certain 'qualifications' before getting one? the reason i'm asking the last question, is that sometime in july/august (don't remember), i got caught in the customs between norway and sweeden, and for some stupid ass reason, i had my jag with me! so, of course they took it, and it's prolly on my record :(
do you think that would affect the situation? (i'd guess it probably would.)

Hi, thanks for the kindness concerning my manners.. ;)

No permitfor me, in Sweden i think that you would need to belong to a [certified] collector club/society.
Most probably you'll need to registry yourself with the police, too bad about getting caught in customs, i can imagine that it would not look good in any report. :(

But if you had a Jag, what's the problem??
:)

what do you mean, what's the problem? it was my only good-enough-for-flipping-out knife, and i lost it. damn. and the real problem is that i don't have it anymore. so now i gotta get a new one. bm43 looks good... anyone agrees?

My thinking was that if you managed to get the Jag,what would stop you from getting another??

I only have the 42, will definitely get a few 43'2, and a few 47's...and some Tachyons, and SWAT's...and Monarchs... :)

I don't think you could go wrong with BM's bali-songs.
But you might want to look around, there are so many new balisong offerings, i can hardly keep track of them!
Life is goood.. :)

ah, like that.
no, i don't think there's a problem in getting more knives, i even talked to someone from knifezilla.com, and he told me i only had luck with the jag; since the knife is illegal, the package should be concealed.
but anyway, if i really DO want a balisong, i won't let no law stop me! :p but i was thinking that just in case, if it was possible to get a promission, that would be better. :D

There is generally sort of a "subtle thing" about COLLECTING...and I do think with some good strategy you can get the "OK" to just COLLECT....."Carrying" is obvioulsy far different!!!

As mentioned I'd look into it with your local law enforcement folks and explain all the stuff you can come up with about your reasons for "Collecting". Good luck...hope it works out for you!!
