Hello, I was looking for a christmas present for my father. I was looking at a G.I. TANTO W/SECURE-EX SHEATH, and a GLADIUS MACHETE W/SHEATH. I was wondering if by purchasing such items would be Illegal in any way. Because last thing you want is the RCMP knocking on your door and arresting you. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I take it that you're canadian. A quick google search will tell you what knives are illegal in canada. Balisongs, switch blades, and gravity knives are illegal. Everything else is fair game.

I did do some looking into before posting here. I checked a digital handbook but i could not find anything about the topic, so i was just wondering if there was soming i was not seeing.

Thank you for your reply shane_o_ca

The only things Cold Steel makes that are blatantly illegal to own in Canada, as far as I can tell, are the blowguns, shuriken, the comb dagger and push daggers.

No problems unless it is a prohibited weapon.

Prohibited knives include:

-any knife that is able to be opened with centrifugal force (! ! !)
-automatic knives, switchblades
-gravity knives
-belt buckle knives
-innocuous items shorter than 30 cm that conceal knives or blades (ie, comb knife)
-push daggers
-spiked wristbands
-bladed rings
-throwing stars, shuriken
-knives with "knuckleduster" guards

You really only need to be careful of the first one, because it can easily apply to most modern folding knives.

Your pretty much all good to own those knives with no problems at all. We have pretty good laws up here like already mentioned switchblades and butterfly knives are a no go, and a few other super cool ones that i wish we were allowed up here. Still lots of options available that are legal

And apparently the Chaos trench knives, since they would fall under "knives with knuckleduster guards".
