I just picked up a Perrin FB, so far I like it but my one question for know would be is there a trainer version of this knife or one in the works? I have the trainer version of the temperance, which I like but I'd rather have one of the Perrin as I would be more likely carry it - especially since I don't own a "real" Temperance - just the trainer.

Thanks

AFAIK, there is no Perrin trainer in consideration. They are probably waiting to see how the Temperance trainer does sales-wise.

Does anyone have a photo of the tang of the Perrin? I'm curious about the strength of the union between the handle and blade. I saw some failures of other knives, where the knife failed when the tang tore through the top of the handle and the tip/handle/pommel formed a 120-140 degree angle.

Thanks Pachucko:)
How about it Sal? Can you answer about the Perrin tang question?
Tthanks

The tang goes into the handlke about half way. The handle is injected onto the tang, which is notched.

We've been making these the same way starting with the Moran. We've never had one fail.

I'm presently having a new handle fitted to my perrin since I didn't like the feel of the stock one. Micarta, larger, no choil... will post pics here once it's finished.

We've had thoughts on a trainer. Mr. Perrin has requested one in all rubber like the old Al Mar trainer. As Carlos said, we're waiting to see public reaction to our fixed blades in general and the trainers in particular. Additional tooling and inventory costs require planning for small companies.
