So, I've been obsessing over Persian style blades lately and just grabbed this Olamic Kneck Knife here on the Exchange.

Let's see your photos of Persian Style blades!

Mark, that is a nice picture and of what looks to be a great knife. I've been really interested in the Persian style knives for a while myself.

Closest thing I own...

I have three Spydercos that fit the bill: Chinook II, Persian and Persian Mini. Also, the Cold Steel Talwar.

The Persian Shamshir (sword) has close cousins in the Turkish Kilij and the Indian (Mughal) Talwar.

I have a Cold Steel Scimitar. I love the lines and the sweeping flow of the blade and grip. I liked everything about the Tulwar except the pocket catching thumb stud and the price. I waited for an affordable G10 gripped model. However I was horribly disappointed by the ugly Voyager grip they gave it. I get using a grip that's already in production to save money, but they could have used the medium Espada grip. Preserving the flow of the original Tulwar.

Also, the Cold Steel Talwar.

How do you like the Talwar?

Especially in regards to this section of the grip:

...one thing that slightly annoyed me about my Voyager was how the choil suddenly "thinned out" the handle in that area. There was no meat there, since it was so much narrower than the rest of the handle, it didn't feel so secure or comfortable in the usual "hammer grip" unless I moved my hand further back. Felt fine with the thumb on top of the blade though.

I have a Talwar and it's one of the most comfortable knives I own.

I had them engraved with the names of the founders of AA, Bill W. and Dr. Bob.

I agree. I am not a Cold Steel fun or anything: I mean I only own a select few CS knives at the moment, and Talwar is my favorite from the bunch! The handle feels great! I only wish that the spine of the blade was curved a little. I am still contemplating if I want to go ahead with modifying it: I guess that will be just a matter of time!
