At the recent Canadian Knifemakers Guild show in Toronto, Jose de Braga, President of the Quebec Knifemakers Guild came to the show with a number of other Quebec Knifemakers.
Jose, had a copy of the new David Darom book on Fix Blade knives following his successful Folding Knives book. Jose was one of the featured knifemakers and at the show had three of the knives that were in the book.
One of those knives is being presented here for your enjoyment.
Jose is well known for his fine craftsmanship of knives and swords including fine folding knives. This knife has been given the name "Alcyone"
OAL is 9 1/2" with a 5 1/2" stainless damascus blade of fantasy design.
the blade sleeve and guard is made from a solid piece of silicon Bronze.
The handle is a walrus tusk tip with composite Lapis Lazuli/14K gold mix and a silver applique. Two sodalite cabochons 1cm size are set on each side of the handle with a 4 mm Garnet cabochon inset in the fine silver at the butt of the handle.
The handle also has some of the fine carving that typifies Jose's abilities as artist and knifemaker.
I also was able to purchase one of the other knives from the Darom book and will post that soon.
