At about 2am I called this one done. A guy on another forum sent me a warthog tusk and asked if I would make him a knife with it as the handle.
It was a challenge but I really enjoyed this.

The Jason Knight/Dave Lisch course at Dave's Studio 4 a few weeks ago really helped my handle/guard construction.

Specs.

Blade is 8 3/4" of 1070/1080 with an OAL of 13 3/4"
Mild steel guard and ferrule soaked in cold blueing giving it texture and an aged look like wrought iron. (new method and I like it)
Handle is spalted maple/warthog tusk

I used a dremel for the "engraving" and will experiment further with this as a texturing tool.

I called it a persian style but if someone thinks this is something else let me know. :p
I need to come up with titles.

This is my 17th completed knife.

Thanks for looking.

That is one mean looking knife.
I like the shape of the blade and guard. The shape of the handle seems to flow with the overall shape of the knife. I really like the way this knife looks.

Thanks. The knife was designed around the tusk so I'm glad you think I was successful. :)

Great looking knife-looks like a lot of thought went into the design.I love how you followed the shape of the tusk into the maple, top notch work for sure!

Stunning Stuart ! Your skill blows me away bro. Like Shawn fu says, the tusk to maple transition is awesome, not an easy task to accomplish I'm sure. My birthday is coming up btw ....

Works for me! GREAT looking knife and I'm SURE that the new owner is going to be VERY satisfied....I know that I would be.

Wow-I really like this knife! The blade is really sweet - has what I'd describe as "nice flow". You did a good job, dude:thumbup:

Very nicely done! As with others, I really like the way you supported and played on the natural flow of the tusk.

I know the new owner will be extremly happy. The wait was more than worth it. How does it feel in your hand? Thanks Stuwart, Al
