This pattern started out with a present I made for my in-laws last
Christmas. Much to my surprise, a couple of people at work asked me to
make one for them and I still don't have one of my own.

The cunning plan behind this design is to trick some of the many people I've
seen who insist on doing everything with a little paring knife to use
something just a little bigger and better suited to many tasks. Everyone
seems to like the way they feel in the hand, which rather surprised me -- I
was afraid that they'd be too heavy but people like the weight.

Here are the second and third I've made. I'm not fully happy with them
because of small cosmetic problems so I don't know what will become of
them.

4 1/4" blades, 8 5/8" overall, 1/8" A2
Bright blade has a Cocobolo handle.
Mustard finish blade has a Ziricote handle.

I like that a LOT !

In fact im making my brother a knife to skin and clean deer with. The blade of the knife looks very much like yours.
Hopefully it will serve my Brother well

Those are a great shape, and that mustard finish is one of the best I have seen. Great work.

I don't tend to like the bronze pins, That is my only critisizm.

Thanks everyone!

The pins are copper, not bronze. Maybe I'll have to try stainless steel next time to see how that looks.

Phil: It just seems like the upswept profile is Persian to me.

Thanks George.

A coworker has reserved the first one but they'll both be Ashokan with me.
