Hello everyone!
Can you guys school me on the persian? Spyderco nut looking to buy a new blade of a different brand here. So what's the deal with the persian? I believe it is listed the emerson's website. Is it still in production? Where is the best place to locate one?

not much to tell really, IIRC its still being offered, knifecenter.com shows to have them at ~$140 which isnt too bad a price, its designed after a fixed blade in the custom line, if i was gonna get one i would look for a emerson collectors association version with the zero bevel hand ground blade they run a little more though at ~ $350 or so, i edc'd one for several months (the ECA version mostly but i have had a couple of the production ones too though i didnt carry those as much) and it worked fine, its really more of a SD knife vs a utility knife FWIW, i have heard the tips are fragile but that hasnt been my experience with 'em.

nice knife thats not real popular for whatever reason.

I would go for the ECA version. you can get them from ebay at under $300 from time to time. I saw 3 go for $200-225 in the last quarter of last year.
 
The Persian is a beautiful knife to me. I just love the curves to the blade & handle. That said, it's not designed as a EDC utility knife. The Persian is more weapon that it is tool. It could still fill the role, but there are better utility knives out there.

Of course that just means I carry my Victorinox Red Alox Farmer when I EDC my Persian.:D

I agree to an extent,

I have 3 Persians and its defo. in my top 3 fave. Emersons. They are a really good looking knife and one well worth having if you like EKIs.
But as stated they are pretty big, although i find they still carry fairly well despite the size. :thumbup:

as far as size thats kinda subjective i dont think they are big by any means, i carry a lot of larger knives though (ie strider SnG, SmF, BM rukus, etc), but i havent ever been carrying my P-tac and thought "gee this knife is big".
