I've had a cold for the last week - been taking stuff to try to keep it from developing into bronchitis....! !

Anyway, Friday and Today just about did me in. :(

I'll keep on pluggin' away....but expect delays if you're waiting on something.

Hopefully I'll get better tomorrow.

take a shot of NyQuil before bed.

chase that with a BIG screwdriver. i like 8oz of Absolut Peppar and 8oz of Donald Duck Country Style.

best advise is to drink it IN bed and not have to worry about finding the bed after you do that. don't spill it on the alarm clock. it makes a mess. DAMHIK!

makes me sleep well. :D

I've had one since Tuesday last week, but am just now getting better.

My advice for if you develop a bad cough that keeps you awake at night is not Nyquil but Mucinex DM. They are 12 hour pills. It's the only thing that I've found to work that has let me get sleep at night. They are an expectorant and cough suppressant in one.

Hope you feel better!

Dan, call your P/C doctor or go for an office visit & have him call in a Z-pac for you. This stuff will cure anything & I mean anything.
Merry Christmas.
Be safe.

Get well soon Dan and try to ensure that you do not develop bronchitis because it could take longer to recover due to the type of work that you do.
Anyway - I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2011!

Take those vitamin C with zinc throat lozenges. Zinc helps to reduce the length of a cold. They have helped me cut my colds in half and reduce the severity of symptoms.

I'm feeling a bit better this morning. I prefer homeopathic remedies...but when it comes close to feeling like the beginnings of Bronchitis...I have the Doc sign me up for the fancy ($$$) stuff immediately!

Fortunately, I am back in the shop today. Unfortunately, I am behind where I wanted to be. :(

I'll put in some extra hours today and see what I can get done.

p.s. I do use a full-face respirator - I can't afford to take any risks with any dust making it's way into my lungs. I used to not care. But lately, doing as much volume as I do (20-50 knives at a time) some days are downright *cloudy* in the shop..!!!

Here's what I use:

The filter cartridges block dust particles as well as fumes. Micarta gives off formaldehyde when you grind it....

Well, one of the best cures for a cold is to eat a whole raw onion followed by a couple shots of apple cider vinegar. You can mix the vinegar with grape juice if you can't do the shots straight.

If that is too hardcore for you, find the BEST Chinese restaurant in your area and order a quart of Hot & Sour Soup every day until you feel better. Has to be made from scratch with lots of garlic, vinegar and peppers. The crappy Chinese restaurants just make it from a powdered mix and toss scraps from the prep table in, and that won't work so well.
