Persistence hunting

amazing endurance i'm surprised this still happens today. no one can say that this man was undeserving of his food. wonder what the econazis friends of animals would say to this.

That guy should have a Gatorade endorsement. That has got to be the toughest method of hunting I ever seen.

I like the part where the narrator says "this was how men hunted before he had weapons..."...and then the camera shows the guys factory made shoes.

Good video, I think I caught the full thing on PBS or Nat Geo at one point.

What do you guys think of this kind of hunt in N. America?

1. would it be ethical?
2. would it work on any N. American game? (assuming you were a marathon runner)

If you notice the area they are hunting in the video is very flat. I think you could attempt it in a flatter area during the heat of summer if you were an adept tracker. In the mountains and wooded areas common to alot of hunting areas here in the South West I don't think that you would have much of a chance. A deer can be two ridges over in a matter of minutes, a distance which could take a man hours depending on the terrain.

one thing for sure this type hunting for hogs in texas brush would leave a man with no flesh in about 1/3 mile.

The Kalahari is reasonable flat and a desert. The challenging bit is not hills but the sand ..... the whole area is covered in either a white or red sand ...thus Red or White Kalahari.

Walk and stalk is not very often used and lots of hunting of the back of vehicles which I believe, if you are to unfit, fat and out of shape to walk and stalk, hunting from a vehicle after chasing the animal down ... you are a coward and not a hunter!!

Looking at temps in the 110's in summer ...an amazing endurance challenge ..... couple that with lack of surface water and heat stroke is a real danger!!

There are a group of deer hunters in the NE called the behoove that track whitetails and use a method very similar by cutting a track in the snow and just relentlessly staying on it. They claim that sooner r later the deer tires out and actually will hold up to c what is pursuing it offering one a shot. Not quite the same but similar none the less and the benoits have plenty of big bucks on the wall to prove if works
