Benchmade has made a wide viriety of folding knives, all with good sucess for the most part. Have a favorite?

I have a vote for the Stryker. Friend here likes the Darkstar hands down.

Others?

Stryker! I also put my vote for it.

I returned my after a couple days because I had gotten the serrated version. Put out an order for a plain edged like yesterday.

I'm going to cast my vote for an old one. I have a BM Brend Combat Talon that I purchased many years ago. To this day, I think it is the nicest looking knife BM ever made.

Chuck,

I am glad to see you say the Benchmade 45.
It is my favorite too.
I was surprised you said the AFCK second.
Does that make the BM 42 third?

I am waiting for my 42, but IMHO, I can't see lighter handles being better.

I like the 45 best, the 710 second and the AFCK third.

I guess the 42 will be fourth and my model 10 fifth.

The 42 is growing on me, but I've had 45s and AFCKs for years and there's a certain attachment.

The other problem is that the one 42 banger that I have was built for me and I think Vance has it in for me. This thing is absolutely the sharpest knife I have ever had. I tell you, it's sharper than any scalpel blade I've ever used. This thing is vicious. And I'm just getting used to these lighter handles. I'm afraid that I have two minor butterfly bites and one fairly nasty one to show for it. I had to buy a new box of bandages today.

Now, I have to say that I've been bitten by an AFCK or two, but usually my own stupid, careless misuse. I've had a couple of really bad incidents with 45s as well including one that had to be removed from my foot at the ER (and this is part of the reason that I don't consider the latch drop to be a combative opening). But I have never had one knife punish me like this 42 has. I guess it's just showing me all the weak points in my lazy form.

I also haven't got a few of my favorite tricks down as smoothly on the 42 as I'd like.

I tell you, though, this knife loves to catch air. All the aerial toss-and-catch stuff is just great.

I'm pleased to point out that I think Clay has a chance against a switchblade in a draw, open, and slash contest with this thing. I was working just simple combative draw/slash stuff last night and I got so fast with it I frightened myself. (Then I put my shirt back on, though, and it was less frightening without the beer belly hanging out.)

The speed is in here, I know it. I just need to work on a lighter touch to control it through some of the whips and reversals.

42, 44, and 710 Axis for me.

The 42 is So much faster (and more controlable) than the older production Balis it's not even funny. When I first got it I said "Crap, it's too light, I'll never like this thing"...... but after about 30 minutes I was in love. And it's gotten better every day since.

Chuck,
You KNOW I'll take on all comers on that challenge. Especially with the 42.

Stryker, although I have a 705 & 730 on the way and I think the 705 might take the lead for the fiddle factor.

I have an old AFO which has traveled the country with me (in a collector status of course

). I still take it on the trail occassionally and it still has its place in my "Get Out Of Dodge" bag. Its one of the heaviest folders I own, but doggone it I LIKE IT!

My favorite Benchmade folder is the mini-AFCK in M2 high speed tool steel. Awesome daily carry knife.
