Thanks for all the prayers and kind thoughts from all of you.
We have had to go to the hospital twice last week, due to frequent contractions. We are still about 2 months early. Thankfully, they were able to give my wife some medication to moderate the contractions, and a premature delivery does not seem immanent. Other than problems in the intestines, the baby seems to be doing well. he may need surgery after he is born, to be able to properly process food.
Winter is passing, temp up into the 30's today!
Enjoying kendo with my two older boys. Loving my job like no other I have had. learning alot, getting better as an engraver. Did my first gold inlay on an 1886 Winchester a few weeks ago. The gold stayed in!
Found a neat book on Sumi-e painting this evening. A Japanese art form, using shades of black ink. The author has a lot of cool stuff to say. I think it will help me with understanding shades of gray, which is the palette for engravers in steel.
The folks we have met are taking care of us. A woman from church came over today, did some cleaning for my wife, and some food shopping too.
I really enjoyed the thread about walking sticks. great stuff, and great links. Thanks!
I have one, made for me by a co worker when I worked at a living history museum. I had been in the hospital with a bad case of cellulitis in my lower leg. he did it all with hand tools, from black walnut. Mortise and tenon joint, with a pin holding on the handle, and a leather square on the bottom .
because of that thread, I put some true oil on it last night. it needed it bad.
Thanks again all!
back down to the basement. more engraving than I can shake a walking stick at!
