I call this the "Personal" "Zapper." Designed small but hand filling, its just 6inches OAL with a 2-1/8inch long slightly hawkbilled blade. This one is O-1 carbon steel with a hand rubbed finish, laminated burgundy linen on Ivory Micarta with those traction holes I like so much. For once I actually made a sheath before posting pics. For a size comparo the smaller Micro-Zapper I posted a week ago is shown. The smaller one works best with the ball on a lanyard. This barely larger one doesn't need it... All comments appreciated and thanks for looking. Jason.

Damn Jason you beat me too it. Have had that idea of using Micarta like that for handles just didn't around to it yet.
Well at least I know how it looks:D
Looks cool!
Back to the drawing board in my mind!!!

Jason! Those look like they'd make incredibly wonderful utility knives... Ever let a lineman try one? I'd love to hear how those would work in that sort of business, or even a woodworker... very functional looking, and made elegant with the handle treatment!

Thanks for the comments. Just a mention that I am certainly not the originator of the laminated slabs idea. Its been done heavily before. In particular, Jeff Diotte from Canada does this, amongst other contemporaries. You can see some of his work in one of the recent Knives Illustrated mags. He does great work. Also, tactical folders frequently have the panelled synthetic on top of a stark background with holes drilled for contrast and grip. I think everyone's welcome to try it. I did it because I was interested and my slabs of Micarta were too thin !! :D Jason.

Jason, I love this style of knife. However, I'd like to throw out MY personal bit of criticism... I would make the blade profile more of a smoothly sloping wharncliff rather than a kinda reverse tanto style. I really like the layered micarta handle thing ya got going. Pair this knife up with a slightly canted horizontal leather sheath, and you have an absolute winner.
