I was really bored today and decided to make my D4 a little bit more personal.

First was to spray the hardware, now this will rub off over time as it is no premium paint, when I have the cash I will invest in something more durable.

The file work went good, except on the last few, where I applied slightly to much pressure and the pattern is slightly of center near the lock cutout. That was a bit of a bummer, after this I polished the spine to mirror finish (no pictures of that)

So the results

I have been experimenting on my own friction folders with file work, but when I saw Units work in his thread I just had an itch that needed to be scratched. Thanks Unit.

You are welcome.

Nice work!, I am glad to have inspired you somehow.

wow !!! that looks awesome !!! nice job man..

now if you just ditch the blade you'd have the perfect knife:D j/k

I've never had a folder apart is it hard to do? Anything particular that may 'pop' out of place??

fwiw, if you go to your local Sherwin Williams 'Automotive Store' they can mix up a rattle can for you in your choice of color for like $15-$20.. not going to hold like powder coat but much better then anything you'll find in the stores..

this make me want to experiment for sure.. thanks for sharing..

Taking the knife apart is not hard to do, but putting it back together is a bit difficult as one has to make sure the spacer holding the back spring of the lock is in place correctly. If not one can damage the spacer and render the lock useless. There was a great thread discussing this. Delica Lego I think by Mr. Blond. So things can pop out of place if care is not taken and damage the knife.

Thanks for the kind words and the mention of Sherwin Williams. They are not available in our country and might look into something else. The closest it seems we have here is Krylon paints.
