Does anyone here personalise their choppers?
As in engraving, handle carving, etching...?

A plain model would be the perfect canvas for enthusiasts.
I believe that any daily familiar object can be beautified and made into a personal work of art.
Already the Kamis make some lovely carved handles and scabbards etc.
Most collectors take an interest in this kind of thing, so I would like to start a thread for members who customise their Khukuri and ask them to post pictures on this forum thread!
I think this would draw alot of interest to a wider audience.

In the past we've seen khuks etched, handles modded and some mighty fine sheaths. I look forward to some good ideas.

Ferrous used to acid etch blades. Somewhere I have image of seax he did. Artisan caliber work.

Edit: can't find seax...here's a Pen Knife---NOT MINE.

The "Knuptial Knife"- an embellished extra-Special Cherokee Rose gifted by the good folks of the Cantina and BF to my lovely Bride and me. :)

Wedding bells and entwined hearts etched into blade, and quillions reshaped into hearts.

Lovingly restored to it's previous glory by Dan Koster.

I'll say it again- I miss Ferrous, and wish he'd come back. :(

I'll see if i can get a friend of mine to take some pics of Khukuri I engraved for him. I also just picked up a Chainpuri that has some simple engraving i was thinking of dressing up.

Take care,

Tom

Here's my seax etched by ferrous:

So ferric chloride works well on C/steel.
I was using nitric and sulfuric mixture back home.

Great looking runes!

Look forward to seeing more posts

He meant the etching was done by Ferrous Wheel, The member who did kismets pen knife, Machetes YCS and his own seax.
I think, if you look in the tips, tricks and useful finds thread at the top of the main forum page or use the search function that there are some topics about the use of ferric chloride.

Sorry bought it through kukri house, it had a 1/4" crack in choi area I ground it out and etched it, the replacement one has a new handle but I am still making the quick draw sheath I will show that one later.

Its still looks good. From Kukri house will only be good as a display item though! LOL!!

Would like to see the sheath too
