I know you blokes ( and sheilas) were at the SHOT show but I hope your mates and their near and dear are ok with the hassles happening in Peru at the moment.

I don't know what the deal is, pole shift, global warming, aliens, hell overflowing but the weather sure has been weird lately.

Just this year here in Houston, hottest, driest summer on record followed by the coldest winter on record. It snowed 3 times here this year and 2 last winter, that's almost unheard of in the past according to some of the old timers around here.

The MASSIVE winter storm that moved across just about the entire country this winter was pretty impressive as well. I can't remember anything else like it.

It's the old Cold War Weather Controlling Station up north. They finally got it to work. ;)

When we were in Munich ( Sept04) it was the coldest Autumn in 150yrs. Correspondingly I read somewhere it was also the wettest Sept. in Copenhagen in 150yrs. The key to the sentence is 150yrs.
I remember in the 70's they were talking about a new iceage!!
I think it might be a bigger/longer cycle than were looking at. Written records in this country only go back 240yrs.
On the radio yesterday they were talking about the major floods in my State ( 150yrs of records) and basicly it is every thirty years ( give or take 5) Last year we had some really heavy rain falls ( last big floods were 1974) and just prior to that we were in drought. Water storage dams were down to 19% overall ( full dams hold 7yrs worth of the regions water including a major city of 1.4 million and us with 140 000.) Damms went to 94% in two weeks.
I don't dispute that humans have altered the earth but to that extent?
" Day after tomorrow" was an amusing movie.
Climate control has gotten out of control here land owners are supposed to get a permit to drop trees on their OWN land beat that.
I'm from a farming family and I can't think of a farmer who wants to degradate their land for this years profit.

I think it most likely is just part of a natural cycle like you said but I think it's a long rotation cycle thus we just have no historical precident to guage what were in for.

Exactly. These natural cycles occur over thousands of years, not the few hundred years that we have records of. It is basically impossible to tell if we are in a period of natural warming or cooling. Average global temperatures have certainly been rising at an alarming rate though. Yes I know this has been a cold winter for many of you :rolleyes: ;)
 
Check out a DVD called "The Great Global Warming Swindle". Apparently all is not as some scientists would have you believe.

Spoiler: long term temperature variations closely match solar cycles and were followed by CO2 changes, not the other way around. This indicates that in previous history temp drove CO2, not the other way around. Currently no long term forecast models include solar radiation data.........?
 
Global warming is a scam. The Earth has gone through temp cycles and changes due to solar activity for millions of years. Al Gore has MADE over $10 million promoting this crap. Scientific data was "lost or omitted" to sway the reports released to the public.

Virginia should be in the 30's this time of year yet we got 11" of snow yesterday and it was 16 degrees last night. Global warming my A@@ !!
 
I think it's getting warmer the more we put asphalt down. Think about it. Ever walk across the blacktop of a parking lot such as Disney's? It's like 140 degrees!

The more you put down the hotter it's going to get because there's no more trees to provide shade and all that.

Well, that's my theory anyways.
 
It's all a cycle, that's why Iceland is green and Greenland is all ice. This global warming scheme cooked up by the scientist is the biggest bunch of **** I've ever heard.

might have a small effect, simply because it retains the heat, rather than reflecting it back into space. but it wouldn't be by much. when you are in shade from the trees, it's because the sun is heating up the trees, rather than what's under them.
