Perun Anvils?

I have no experience with Perun but I can't think of a single time I was disappointed in a steel, machined, tool type product that was produced in Poland. I have a very high opinion of Polish metalwork/industry.

I haven't used one that I recall, but they should be excellent. I would expect them to be similar in performance to Nimba anvils.

I'm just starting out and still in the setup stage of my shop, but I've placed a couple orders with Blacksmith's Depot. I've also called and talked to Cathy Kayne a couple of time to get advice on equipment purchases. I get the impression that the main family business is actually blacksmithing and the sales just sort of came about. I don't believe they sell anything that Mr. Kayne and son haven't used or personally fabricated. I would not hestitate to buy anything on their website...of course I'm still a newb at this, so disclaimer given.

Oh I've ordered from them before. They have always been great. Their quality as a company has never in question ;)

I thought really hard about trying one of the Turkish anvils they are advertising, but after ordering an oven it's just out of reach right now.

Let us know what you think when you get it. I have asked similar questions about the Perun anvils on other sites and no one knows much about them. Luckily I live close enough to ride up there and pick it up. I imagine shipping on a 220lb anvil would cost a pretty penny.

To Alaska? It can't be done. Well, not without some fancy maneuvering with freight companies anyway, and that equals big $$$.

Nice thing about that little Bickern, it will ship USPS Priority for about a hundred bucks. Brings the price after shipping perilously close to ten bucks a pound, but that's the breaks living up here...

I love the nimba anvils, I have not used one but thy are made here in my state. There pricing is quite good to especially when you consider there Gladiator anvil @ 450lbs for $2,575. That's $5.72 a pound, it's hard to find an old beat up anvil now for cheeper then that. We all love the old anvils of days gone by but thy are becoming so pricy that it's just about not worth it unless you luck into one for a screaming deal.
