It was my anniversary on Sunday, but the gift showed up today...

The Kabar Zombie Killer Pestilence Chopper!!!

It's a bit lighter (actually, ALOT lighter) than the other knife I've been using lately:

I like the sheath overall, and the pocket on it seems roomy enough to be useful.
It's a good thing I like the funky handle scales though, as it did NOT come with black scales (it had the hardware though, as well as the cardboard thing the scales would have been in:confused:).

The companion knife is way too small, and I hated the way it fit in the sheath. My wife thought it was cute, so I gave it to her, and pulled out the plastic insert so she can store the knife safely.:) Now that part will make a good spot for zip-tie storage.

But of course, the really important question; does it kill zombies?

You bet it does!

I think KA-BAR has a winner on there hands with the ZK line I was a little worried that it wouldn't go over too well at first but they seem to be perfectly practical and useful blades with a little flare to them.

lol awesome post, man!

Thanks. It was a real close battle, whew!:D

Most of the designs seem quite well thought out for sure, and having a bit of fun never killed anyone.

you gotta tell us about your chopper in photo #2

Ah, that is Stormbreaker.
29 ounces of O1 steel, made by me.:)(well, I made the knife, not the steel)
1/4" thick, with 9.5 inches of cutting edge past the choil.

mmm, good stuff for zombies :)

just add 500 rounds of 45acp ;)

Might grab the War Sword from W&W when they come in, as I'm also waiting for some new broken in the middle cutlery. Hard call, lots of new stuff coming out now and on the horizon. Looks like you could level a forest with all that steel. Have fun and please show some use pics, thanks.

Ah dang, I'm screwed...all I have are these wimpy .38+p rounds.:D

Here's a pic of the companion knife and hard insert, with a SnG for size reference (and a really serious survival manual):

The chopper is way smaller than i first thought. But when I took it out hiking I actually think i used it more than i would have if it was larger. I agree with the little piggyback knife being strange. I really disliked the way it fit in there. Other than that its pretty solid. Also, did you know theres a world war z movie coming out!?

The ones I've handled, seem to cut with ease. Gotta remember, that the original design was as a backup for a pilot, that might be shot down in the jungles of the Pacific. Smaller is better when you have to tote something around, but it needs to be big enough to do work. I like the size and weight, I think it makes one helluva good chopper, and its still a managable size. Plus, that blade thickness makes it better for hardwood chopping too. :D

The UFC's Forrest Griffin made a survival manual...

And didn't mind posing in a loincloth for the cover?

Huh?

Why?

It ain't real survival if you don't have a loincloth held up with duct tape.:D
This book is found in the humour section. Surprisingly, it ain't serious.
In fact, it has this warning in it: "This book was written for idiots by idiots."

That sucks that you didn't get the black scales. Sounds like someone nicked em somewhere between the factory and you.

The ZK knives are surprisingly nice, and really reasonably priced at most dealers. I agree the small knife is a little on the...gangly side lol. I plan on turning it into a nice little trout knife by either wrapping, or adding scales to the back portion of the handle. That chopper you made certainly looks like a beast though!

I love mine.

+1 on the piggyback knife/sheath being more of a distraction than a useful addition. The whole combo DOES NOT work with the snap
that supposedly holds it in.

To the OP, if you want my black scales drop me your address in a PM, I won't ever be switching them out.
