OK guys, maybe I am just whining a bit but....you may be losing potential sales when you say shipping to Alaska or Hawaii cost more when using the regular USPS (US Postal Service). FEDEX & UPS cost more since there is no ground service (duh?).....but if you ship regualr good old USPS Priority mail (which I prefer up here....trust is the better word). IT COST THE SAME

as shipping from New York to LA or Boston to Providence. $3.20, a bit more for delivery confirmation/insurance. USPS ships by weight in the US and does not discriminate against us agrophobes who live in the boonies.

I have been buying her for almost 2 years and constantly see that in the for sale section.

Personally, I think the brave men and women at the Postal Service do a pretty good job.

'Nuff said.....thanks for putting up with me.

Kodiak, I certainly agree that the US postal service does a good job. Especially up there in Alaska.

Apparently, since Alaska is a state and the USPS is a branch of the US government, they are not allowed to charge for what are Obviously greatly increased costs to deliver mail up there. I read once that some significant fraction of the cost of each stamp (something More than 20%) paid for mail delivery in Alaska. There was even some guy building a boat dock Way out in the boonies who Stamped cinder blocks and mailed them to his property. The Postal Service was forced to ship cinder blocks a few at a time by bush plane to his property. Amusing huh?

I'm not really complaining about this, just providing another perspective

Yep, Greg, I agree 100%. Seems a little biased doesn't it? I mean, granted, UPS and FedEx, etc. cost more but, like you, I prefer the "good ol' USPS", best bang for the buck and very reliable. I don't really buy into the "increased costs" for the USPS delivery service to Alaska/Hawaii for the simple reason that its REQUIRED. If I never ordered anything via the mail, the postman would still have to show up at least once a year to deliver my tax bill. Now, ordering cinder blocks and having them delivered via USPS seems a little excessive and outrageous but I'm sure thats an extreme exception (I hope). People in Alaska/Hawaii pay the same price as everyone else in the U.S. I'm sure it doesn't cost as much to mail a letter across town as across the country, but you can live in some pretty remote places in the "lower 48" that I guarantee you are as difficult (maybe even more so) to deliver to as Alaska/Hawaii. Again, the private couriers are another story, they HAVE to make a special trip.

Greg - I'll tell you what... You buy any of the knives I currently have up for sale (R.J. Martin Q30, Gerber compact sport multi-tool, BM720, Case red bone stockman, or Hen and Rooster small whittler) and I won't charge you extra for shipping to Alaska. Deal?

One interesting thing regarding the shipping times. When I send a package to G2 for a sheath he normally gets it 2 days by priority mail. All other places it's usually 4 or 5 days. Must have a direct plane route to the east coast or something. I must have sent him 10 packages over the last year and am totally floored when he gets it in just 2 days.

Oh yeah....No posts from Kelly either....LOL!
