Does anyone have any idea when Pete's book is going to be available? This should be one of the must have books on RMK.

It would also be nice to have Pete do more articles for Blade. I always find his column to be of great interest.

KWM,

I heard it was scheduled for release sometime in the Spring...but I don't know how accurate that info is.

Also, I have your books boxed for shipment, and I'll be sending them off to you today. You should have them within a week or so.

In addition to Sid Latham's book, there is a first addition Gun Digest "Book of Knives", and Col. Mayes "Red Book", I included...

...One copy each of the Randall catalog, Northwest Knives catalog, A.G. Russell's KCC catalog, A.G. Russell's "The Cutting Edge" catalog, a few other knife related catalogs, and...

A few magazines...Blade, Tactical Knives, Knife World, etc.

I think these will give you a pretty good cross section of the various industry publications available, and you'll be able to subscribe to those that fit your needs, should you decide too.

Enjoy buddy! :D

btw. The Latham and GD books are collectibles in their own right.

I was talking to Tom Clinton at the Tulsa show over last weekend and he told me the following: It seems Pete will not mail the manuscript so Tom must drive down and pick it up in Florida for proof reading. After that it goes to the printer. When it will be ready?????????? /// Rhett

Thanks Mel, I really appreciate all the reading material that you sent me. I am sure that it will help me learn a lot more about RMK. It was great of you to send all the extras as well. :)

Hopefully Pete's book will be sooner than later.

Keith,

My apologies...I meant to include a Randall Knife Society (RKS) Newsletter...drat's, sorry bud, it was late when I packed the box.

Oh well, on the next go round I'll send one up...

Also, about this afternoon's email...I was bent. The last time I went to that Post Office I filled out one Customs form in detail, and when I got to the head of the line, they told me that I needed to fill out the "other" one.

This time, I filled out the "other one", and when I got to the head of the 20 person line, the counter girl told me, once again, that I needed to fill out "the other one..." (like the one that I'd originally filled out on my last trip down there...) Arrrggghhh!

Then she smiled and said, "and that'll be $22.45"..."Whoa Nellie!"

I sputtered, "But, but, but they're books.." She just smiled back and said..."Books? Canada, sorry, no book rate..." Gawd, I was pissed! (at myself...I'd quoted you $45 on books that had cost me $60, and now it was gonna be $22.45 more...not good!)

Anyhoo, you should get the books soon, enjoy them well, and send whatever ya can whenever you can...I'm not gonna lose sleep over a few bucks.

Also, if ya really wanna get up to speed on Randall's, buy the Intersquare CD, and join the RKS...It'll cost ya $60 US, but it'll save ya that much on your next "sleeper" RMK purchase...

Plus, it'll give ya something to do when the snows come.. ;)

Rhett, thanks for the heads up on Pete's book!

Mel. I really do appreciate all you went through. I won't leave you out in the cold for the shipping. That would be pretty low class in my opinion. Thanks again pal.

I spoke to Pete about a week ago and he said that the book was currently at the printers being formatted. He wasn't exactly sure how much longer before it would be in print and released. I told him at that time that I wanted to carry them in my shop and he said that that would be no problem. Will keep you informed as I find out more, Greg
