Peter Boyle, R.I.P.

He played a couple of unlikeable characters in movies like Joe and some other film where I recall he shot a sleeping man in the face. He made you hate him in those, but boy he made you like him in others like YF or Raymond. Pretty good actor to be able to do that...

Even if he was a bit far out on the liberal kook fringe, I'll miss the old guy.
 
RIP Peter.

He was great on Raymond. I noticed the last couple years of shows really took their toll. He started getting very frail and weak looking in the later episodes.
 
Holy Crap!!! Seriously, what a unique individual...didn't he stand as best man at John Lennon's marriage to Yoko Ono?

He was in so many flicks and shows and played so many different roles it's amazing. Like TJ said, he could make you hate or love his character.
I was watching that live comedian on the Comedy Channel last week, I just can't pull his name up but he is hilarious, mexican dude, out walks Peter Boyle to do a short bit. First time I had seen him in ages and I thought he looked liked he was gonna pass out. I didn't know he was ill!
He will be missed but we are blessed to have all the work he's done through the years to watch!!!
 
the first movie i remember seeing him in was young frankenstien and he was great. it's sad to see all the older actors dying off.

He was a good MAN. More important than being a good actor.

A kind word for virtually anyone, and reportedly very generous with his paychecks. He was a regular philanthropist...but never talked about it, never tried to get any press for it.

Im_pressed the heck out of me. Someone worth looking up to...

Not many realize he started his adult life in a religious order.
 
Try and catch him in Steelyard Blues. The movie is otherwise a bit of a lemon but Boyle's amazing 'personalities' really make it worthwhile.

It was the Mind of Mencia show, Carlos Mencia was the commedian. Mencia must have been friends with Boyle because he appeared on the show a few times doing the same bit. Boyle was on the Top rated show Everybody loves Raymond for like 8 years so he probably didn't need the work. He definitely looked pretty frail. I heard on the news he had cancer and heart disease. He looked like my mother did after chemotherapy. The Chemo drugs really weaken you and you loose a lot of weight and muscle mass. Even more so on elderly people. He had that ematiated look. It made me sad when I saw him on that last show because I knew he wasn't going to live much longer.
