Finally got my first big knife in years. I had pulled away from the knife scene over the last five years but with a new purchase that arrived today, I think im back. THere for I will hopefully start buying the custom knives i love again. Was a long 5 year break. I sold almost everything.

This peter Carey nitro is fllawless. 154CPM hand rubbed blade and moire pattern timascus and clip. Carbon fiber handles. Ive always been more of an ABS forged blade collection but have wanted one of these for a while so this is my reintroduction into the knife scene. Its part of the wilson combat alliance run of ten knives by Pete. Its beast in hand. While I still am more interested in the forged ABS stuff this is a wonderfully precise masterpiece by Carey. Let me know your thoughts.

welcome back, Jon Brand!

I'm a little surprised to see your transition to the new school of custom knives, but that just goes to show we're all subject to growth and change:thumbsup: That's a sweet knife you got yourself, there

I'll bet that's FUN to flick open, lock, unlock, and close. Repeat as needed.

Good to see you!

:)

Thanks guys! Glad to be back. The coin bug really came back hard the last few years. Now the knife bug is returning. Its all in waves I suppose.

Lorien I am still mostly a fan of ABS knives. That hasn't changed so rather then a transition perhaps just adding something to it! Truth be told I always wanted one of these over the whole period of my past collecting. I have really been feeling the sellers remorse on my ABS collection. My one remaining presentation knife is my Hanson blue dagger folder. I do plan to add some of his pieces next! This Nitro certainly scratched an itch though! And I don't know nearly as much about this scene and the builds as I do/did ABS.

Coop, sure is! I am so used to smaller folders and I didn't pay much attention to the length before it arrived. I was shocked at how large and commanding it is in person, although I should have realized before making the purchase just by looking at the specs. I pretty much saw the pictures and did what I needed to do to purchase it, not that I mind. The blade is so heavy you can see it flip. Its almost like fast slow motion. Makes it hella fun to open. I've always been attracted to his knives but don't recall handling and full sized pieces. The quality lives up to the hype. Blade comes out effortlessly with NO blade play whatsoever as its firmly set into the very well made bearing system.

I could be way off, but while I felt the forged market was a bit slow, I believe its picking up again as I am seeing more tacs come to the market that were previously unattainable. And some of those tac collectors seem to be picking up the ABS/forged bug. I sure hope this is the case as I will always be partial to forged blades. Also not a big fan of stainless damascus.

the mind is like a parachute; it only functions when it's open
