Ever since Peter showed the first pics of the Druid model, I've wanted one. I love wharncliffe blades, and the Druid just checked off everything I wanted in a folder and got on my short list of grail knives. At one point, Peter asked me what I wanted in a Druid, and I told him that I preferred the smooth blasted or stain finish integral frame. When the time came around though, I had to pass on the knife as it was around this time last year and my then-GF's birthday was 12/18. I've been regretting that ever since, and had been keeping an eye out for one in the Exchange and the USN Cove. Several popped up, but most of them had sculpted handles, or the frag-textured grips from the Monkey Edge run that Peter released. Then the news came that Peter wasn't going to make Druids any longer
! A few people kept an eye out for me and gave me a heads-up whenever one popped up for sale, but the smooth-finished integrals were hard to come by. I even thought about grabbing one of the other models and maybe holding on to it for a trade down the line, just in case. Aside from prices having doubled on the secondary market, it was just rare to come across a smooth Druid, let alone being discontinued.
Last week, I got on the forum and the page of new posts/threads came up first and had a for-sale thread in the productions section but the first knife listed was a Druid. I figured it would have been long gone by now, and when I checked out the thread which was already many hours old, all the knives were sold except for one. Yep, the Druid. It was also at a price that was unbelievably low compared to the ones I had seen this past year. Maybe because it was listed under the productions section since all the knives in the thread were productions, but the Druid was still available. I immediately contacted the seller and I received it today. The timing and circumstances couldn't have been more perfect, since I didn't win any Emerson auctions nor was my name picked during the Emerson lottery, so the money in my knife fund was available for this Druid at the right time, and I couldn't be happier
