Any idea when the new PCKS will be on the air? The old one is sufficently flakey that it does not work with the newer, standards-insistent browsers such as Opera, NetScape 6.1, or K-Meleon. I also hope the new PCKS will have some abilities to track a current order.

Speaking of which what is the current backlog in time? I ordered one 3 weeks ago, and haven't received it, (Not unreasonable), but am just wondering when it might arrive.

Well, to answer my own question, the latest knife arrived Tuesday, 26 days after the order. There is a week delay in delivery to the east coast, so probably 19 days from order to shipment.

It's very pretty, FG brown jigged bone, brass bolsters, and a partially serrated BG-42 blade. After the discussions lately about quality, I looked it over very carefully, and it is just about perfect. I can detect a very slight front-back wiggle in the bladde, but nothing objectionable, and certainly no more than any other folder.

I'll post pics when I get some time and a cloudy day ;)

My wife asked an embarassing question, though. What kind of bone is used? I had (and have) no idea. Probably not pig knuckles, but after that, I have no clue. Anybody?

Well, I know it's not too impressive but to be perfectly honest it is shin bone from your garden-variety range cow. Hey, those little guys are sacred in some places.

Anyway, the big question is, the new custom knife shoppe When? Where? And when?

Well after changing servers about 50 times (once, because a hacker broke into it) and reinstalling the merchant software about a zillion times, we are finally on the home stretch. I don't want to get into it but our web developer went through quite a shake up over that thing, now I'm getting e-mails at home at night to approve their progress. My guess is that early next week that new design will be on line and bug free.

Regarding new features, order tracking will be improved but not right away. It will utilize a shopping cart so that if you want to order multiple different designs, you can do that all at once.

Regarding its compliance, it should work well with a variety of user agents (browsers). I have IE5.5, NN6.1 and Opera 5 installed here at work, and IE6 beta at home. I've had some problems with it under NN4.x but that doesn't bother me as much and it shouldn't be too surprising.

Thankfully I can finally say its around the corner without fear of jinxing the project more.

Hey, cow shin bones are tough -- I've never seen one hopping around holding his leg, and they certainly don't wear soccer shin guards.

As far as Pete's - Sounds good! Can't wait to get my pink ionfusion blade - can you dye the shin bone to match? ;)
