Uncle Bill, the area near the cho seem to be very thin, is that designed for shock absorbtion? So when you make a hard chop, that notch would cause the blade to give and take some shock out of you hands?

I always thought the Malla's cho made the knife structually weaker. However, it still is a very nice piece. I gots one myself

I have no idea why the cho on this model is as it is. BirGorkha just copied the old rusty Malla they found.

The depth of the cho had also occurred to me as a potential issue. However, the khuk has the right aesthetics.

got that right!! I love the lines on these! To me it seems like a weapon khuk, so I'm not as concerned about the blade being super tough. I'm sure its tougher than most any fighting knife on the market anyway!
