I'm wondering if anyone remembers the full name of his wide recurve blade model. I think it starts with a Z? Pictures would be a bonus, if anyone has one :)
I'm thinking of placing an order, but my image of the blade is based on an old memory, and I don't see that particular one on his website.
If you could help me out, I'd appreciate it!

It's called the Zahid special, here's a small picture of it:

Thanks much, I'll be calling to get on the list. I'm a sucker for a double-edge recurve...

edit
one better. Just got off the phone with Phill, and he's sending me a catalog. For a smith with a 2 year wait, I was pretty surprised to hear back from him in less than an hour. Very professional.

He grinds A2, he does not forge it. Have you ever seen or handled one of his knives in person? The man is an absolute genius of marketing and self promotion.

Mr. BadExample, what is it that makes us "suckers" for a style of knife? For me it's a wharncliffe. I probably ought to start a new thread on this but you are here so i thought I would ask.

and Loveless ground, not forged 154CM. Hartsfield may or may not be a genius of marketing and self promotion but his knives are d@#n strong and sharp. They feel good in the hand and stay sharp too.

I dunno, sever... I wish I knew. Stuff like the Randall Sasquatch, Neil Blackwood's larger knives, the Vanguard knives by Siska, RJ Martin, and Broadwell; the Busse Mr. Mojo, some of Robert Hankins' fighters, they all grab me. Sadly they grab a lot of other people as well, and makes it a challenge to get my hands on any!
And yes, I've seen some of Phill's knives. And I'll handle some at the NYC knife show in November. I only have a few "pretty" knives that I don't use. Mostly I buy workhorses and use them, even if they are expensive. I'm not an investor, I'm just a guy who likes knives, and likes using them even more.

The Zahid is a great selection as a tough, do all knife. I've owned one as well as a Micro Zahid. I should have never sold the Micro and the ZS resides with my brother. You'll not be disappointed.

Yeah, until I get the catalog, it's kind of a toss-up between a Zahid and a Three Rivers. Depends on the size/cost. I like big knives, but they are often inconvenient to carry.

I've got his catalog (it's where I got that pic from), if you have any questions and don't wawnt to wait for yours, just ask.
