Does any one have any words about Phil Rose PSKs?? Any pictures? Experience with them?

Just curious.. I am actually on a mission to find a Mcnees... but the info would be nice...

I have a PSK 2 in Elmax. It's an exceptional knife. Skinned and dressed 12 rabbits with it a month ago and it held an edge better than anything else I've used. It's also one of the VERY few survival knives I've ever come across that is all work and no flash in the design.

The thing about them that people should know: It's best to buy direct from him. He'll spend the time with you on the phone to understand exactly what you will be using the knife for and tailor the knife accordingly. But then again, that only really matters if you are particular about your knives and intend to use them.

If you do a Google search for "Phil Rose Knives Interview" there's a good article that will come up.

From the depths! I've been on a fixed blade kick lately and I have a PSK II on its way to me. I've actually been looking at these for a couple years but there is next to no info about Phil Rose or his PSK knives. It seems to have a lot of what I like in a knife and little to nothing I don't. I have "spendier" knives I really like and I have less expensive ones I really like. At least I was able to get a good amount of info on them before purchase!

Mine is the Midtech, 1st run "hand ground" model. I chose it for several reasons. Size/shape/design. Looks simple but there's obviously a lot of thought into it. N690 seems like an intriguing material.

I'd love to hear what others have to say and I'll certainly be updating with my thoughts when I get the knife friday!

From Phil Rose's website:

Mid-Tech PSK-2 with tan canvas handles
This knife is a Mid-Tech PSK-2 with tan canvas handles. The blade on this knife is Bohler N690 heat treated to 59/60 RC and they have a tumbled finish. These knives are less expensive than our customs because we cnc mill everything (in house) but the blade grind. Currently our Mid-Tech's all have hand ground blades making these essentially custom knives. However, due to the use of technology we are able to offer them at a price that most can afford. Each knife comes with custom Kydex sheath with a large Tek-Lok and B.S.M. fire starter attached. Please note that international shipping will cost more than you will be charged at checkout.
Knife Specs:
Steel - N690
Blade Hardness - 59/60 RC
Blade Length - 4 1/8"
Blade thickness - 5/32"
Handle Length - 4 1/4"
Handle Thickness - .650"
Overall Length - 8 3/8"

Well that got buried quick! There is very little info on these knives and/or Phil Rose. Does anyone know if he is still making knives? Didn't make it to the PO today until after work. Got a cute little note needing my signature, so hopefully I'll have the knife mañana. N690 is also still somehow a fairly mysterious steel except that Todd Beg uses it on most of his knives. I'd love to hear any info on Phil Rose, the PSKs, or N690 if anyone has any comments!
