Philippine Knife Laws

My son, who is a knifeknut like me, is going to the Philippines as a missionary for our church. I need to know what restrictions there may be for knife carry there. When I was there a couple years ago I did not notice anything that would cause concern, but I want to be sure.

Locking folders allowed?
Any size restrictions?
Flippers, assisted openers allowed?
One hand openers allowed?

He has a Spyderco UKPK that should be fine in most jurisdictions, but he also has a few other locking one-hand openers that he might want to take.

If it makes any difference, he will be in Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora.
 
When I was there, as long as you have some one to back you up, you won't have an issue.

You can't bring guns or knives into the malls, banks, city hall due to metal detectors so that's really the only place I didn't carry.

I'm in a different area so I can't really say what is the situation in Pampanga. I know I can carry anything up to an XL espada where I am.

if he's going to be in the province most of the time he won't have any problems. people there are used to seeing knives. just don't carry a very big knife like a jungle bolo. the only place i thinks he might have a problem is if he's in Pasay City in the metro. there's a law prohibiting the carry of any kind of knife there.
 
I live in Bulacan, the 1st province North of Manila,just before Pampanga.Knife laws here is a very big grey area.But for a white guy,i suppose the only places that you would get searched is when entering malls,bars, and beerhouses.Mall security is not that strict and I have always been carrying knives for a very long time.Bars and beerhouses are sometimes visited by the police and customers are searched for knives and other weapons but I doubt that your son would likely be in such places.You may PM me for my contact info if your son would like to go fishing while here or just chat a little.Cheers!
