My best friend/knife collecting buddy and I ordered a set of twin knives from Phillip Patton based on the drop point utility a couple of months ago. Phillip is a true craftsman; great design and superb finish.

Our idea was to have a custom knife made with which we could do the things we need when we're hiking and bushcrafting. It had to be a usable blade for in the woods as well as having a big WOW!-factor. Phillip accepted our order and made us these two custom knives.

This is my half of the set I took to the woods last weekend in Soesterberg, the Netherlands.

  • Overall: ± 11 inch
  • Blade: 6 inch including the finger choil
  • Handle: black canvas micarta, ± 5 inch
  • Steel: W2
  • Extra's: mosaic pin, red liners, the handle is very beautifully contoured, pay attention to the first pin near the blade; it's contoured along with the micarta handle. Phillip even stamped the spine of the blade with a few words which originated from our youth.
The knife arrived sharp and I just had to put it on the Sharpmaker; shaving my arm hair wasn't any problem.
After batoning through a small pinetree making firewood and using it for various camptasks the knife was still shaving sharp!

David Brown made a kydex sheath for both knives; same quality as the blades!

Phillip, thanks for the knives!

I'll post more pics of the knife and sheath later, enjoy.

Michiel

I'll echo what has already been said... Phillip makes a great knife and they are easily recognized as his work.

Yours looks similar to mine in makeup... W2 w/a great hamon although mine has Maroon Handles w/ black liner. :)

I, too, will echo what previous posters have said. I am really enjoying my Phillip Patton custom hunter. We designed it together and Phillip made it exactly to the agreed to drawing. I couldn't be more pleased.
