Phoenix opening/closing

I purchased a Phoenix online and received it today. I'm not sure how much I'll carry it but I'm totally enamored with it because it just flat has style. I've read many discussions about it both here and on the Spyderco forums so I wasn't surprised to find that my knife has the same black remnants on the Micarta from polishing and the pointy corners that seem off-putting to some people. These things don't bother me. The black is minimal and easily removed. The pointy corners won't be an issue because I don't plan to use it as a work knife where I would handle it many times a day. I guess what I'm saying is that I got what I expected and I'm thrilled to have this stylish knife.

That said, my Phoenix is fairly stiff to open and close one-handed. It's acceptable but not quite as free as I like. I'm not a big fan of loosening pivot screws too much because I really like the way this one locks up. As it is, it has no blade play whatsoever and locks up solid as a vault. I've seen people speculate that the washers are teflon but I think the consensus is that they're nylon. My question is this: what is my best way to loosen up the action? I don't know if oiling it will help with these washers. Should I just wait and let it break in? I'm not even sure how long it would take to cause significant wear on nylon. Or is my best bet to tinker with the pivot screw and find a nice compromise?

One last thing - I'm not trying to get it to the point where I can look "cool" by flicking it open with supposed authority. That's not my thing.

Thanks in advance for any ideas/opinions!

I just finished my Volpe, which has nylon washers. It was snug in the beginning, but after cleaning with Blue Lube Cleaner, followed with a small amount of Blue Lube, the action is very smooth without a pivot adjustment.

Thanks a lot, A.P.F. I thought the nylon would be low-friction enough on its own. I'll give that a try.
