Hi I was wondering if anyone has taken this course and if you can let me know what you think about it? I'm working with a master bladesmith right now but I was thinking I would do this course on the side......So anyways I could use some help finding someone who has done it and what they think. heres the link to there website.....( http://www.becomeabladesmith.com/aboutbladesmithing.html )

That came up once before.

I believe it's an on-line scam.

The titles of JS and MS are given by the ABS and there is no university accreditation for knifemaking.

I don't know any university that would give a course for $99, 150 or 199
More like $600 or more

and

the Master certification should be higher than the Journeyman.

The website should be XXXX.edu
for most accredited edu educational institutions in the USA

I did not check out the link but I know that JD Smith does teach bladesmithing classes at Mass College of Art. Those are the real deal and not a scam if you are really intersted in pursuing bladesmithing in higher education.

I think this is my favorite "Grad feedback" shown on their site....

"I wanted my knife license more to buy wholesale as a collector, and protect my collection from the new wave of ban Dems taking over DC. My PSU certification as a Master Bladesmith opened doors I hadn't even imagined, especially on the business side. I was only going to do this as a hobby, and it has evolved into my life work. Who starts an entirely new career at 56? Some of the world's best have taken 30 years in the past to become world class. You convinced me that modern technology including CAD CAM and pre forged blanks can make even a beginner a world class designer if he at least has a little creativity. Because of a slow economy, I had a jeweler friend who would set small stones I'd buy on Jewelry TV into my designs, and the perceived value of my "mini dagger" series was $600 when it was costing me $60. Please don't publish my name, I don't want my buyers knowing my margin, and besides, when I add my time, I'm probably only making $1 an hour (I'm slow!). I now have another friend doing engraving before final firing, and am making over $12,000 a month, way more than as a part time electrician!"

"He" doesn't want his name shared because he doesn't want his customers to know his margin which makes for such an amazing profit.

Oh...um... but wait, if you factor in his time, he only makes $1 an hour... Ho hum... :( :(

But wait!!!! With his friend doing his engraving, he's now making over $12,000 a month!!!!! Hooray hooray!!!

Since there are 744 hours in a 31 day month... he must have cloned himself 16 times, so that he can work around the clock all month and make $12,000. ;)

I wonder if he learned to clone himself through Phoenix State as well?!?!?!?

Someone needs to find the "president" of Phoenix State, and kick him right in the balls. Maybe he can explain "mettalurgy" at that time as well. :)

I'm heading to Salem to get my money back from Chuck Richards for the forging lessons I took. Sheesh, after two full days I should have had my Mastersmith and been ready to test for
my Journeymansmith ....

Honestly, I surely hope nobody ever falls for this !!
