Greetings all.
I've had a Flash II for about a year and a half now and never really cared too much for it. It opens really smooth and fast, but closing it always felt kinda gritty. Other knives came along and I set the Flash to the side.
Going over my collection a few days ago while cleaning up a few other knives I came across the Flash, and since I was in a cleanin' mood I decided to open her up and see what the problem was.
After chasing the lockbar across the kitchen when it shot out, I found the reason for the gritty closing. One of the washers was torn. Actually, it looked more like it was cut than torn, like it wasn't seated properly during assembly and was cut when the pieces were put together.
I searched around for some donor parts, but couldn't find anything suitable so I closed the knife up after clipping off the piece of the damage washer. It closes a little more smoothly now, but you can feel where the washer is missing a piece.
I emailed SOG's warranty department, but haven't gotten a reply yet. So I'm curious about phosphor bronze washers. Would any of the washers from Knife Kits work in this knife or should I call SOG for replacements?
Also one other question. Where is the Flash II made? I've seen made in America and Tiawan from different sources.
Thanks for any help.
