I took some photos this weekend of my new ZT 0550 for a review article I'm working on. Here's one of the photos, showing it with a few of my favorite EDC items:

Nice pic. But uh oh, I bet the review won't be a 5 out of 5 given your recent posts.

Knives can be a funny thing. I own a couple examples (from another maker) that are universally known to be troublesome to open especially compared to the flagship model of the same make. I prefer the model known for opening challenges. I received two(2) examples and proceeded to take them out of the box and flick them open no problem. My buddy came over and I handed him one and said, "Open this". He couldn't to save his life.
He handed it back and of course said "I don't like it". I wouldn't have either.
Not saying that is the case here at all which is why Great knifemakers offer great warranties.
Resolution is an email away.
But, I think you guys have discussed very good options and if they do not result in solution then resolution is readily available.
Not being a "reviewer" I am not familiar with protocol but have read reviews where it was mentioned that an initial item to be reviewed was replaced due to whatever issue and the review proceeds from there.
Seems like that might be a fair and productive way to accomplish the most accurate result but again, I am out of my depth in the world of reviewing.

For those who visit the You Tu... videos.

How many times have we seen someone with their brand new knife (Hinderer or other) have trouble opening it at first?

When the newest 3" hit the street the new video posts were up instantly. I watched a couple where both the flipper and non flipper versions gave the new-to-the-brand owners a bit of trouble. It was only a simple issue of not knowing exactly how to operate their new knife.

I believe Rollie-J has listened and tried most all advice. If the suggested opening methods, adjustments, and other advice didn't help, well perhaps it is not operator error. Wish I could try it for myself, then I could actually help.

Please make sure to mention in your review that others have received the 0550 and have no major issues with opening. But, I must disclose that I flick it open in the manner I described and showed in the other thread. Any other method of opening is much more difficult by comparison.

Rubi, I know exactly what you mean. The story about handing a knife to a buddy who then had issues operating it, resulting in dislike due to their own ignorance (non-derogatory) rings true in my world.
