I created this pictorial on how I make a knife a few years ago and posted it in several groups. I just thought some of the beginning makers would like to see the different ways of making knives. I shape all my blades with files and sandpaper, and finish them by hand. I am anal about a grinder or buffer touching my blades after heat treat. I have worn many hats in my years and one was as a product engineer for Howmet Corp. I learned a lot about alloy steel and also got to know a lot of the engineers at Crucible. (makers of the CPM154 steel I use exclusively, unless a customer absolutely wants something else) Their chemistry for the CPM154 has not changed from the first batch to the last one enough for anyone outside of Crucible to measure I strive for absolute consistency with my blades, as does Crucible with their steel. This is a six part pictorial and there are six zipped files. If anyone is interested contact me, give me your email address and I will be happy to send all six files. They are too large to upload here.

Joe, I've followed your work for years and have always admired your work, especially your curved bolster fitting. I would love to benefit from your insights, thank you for sharing!

I would like to see them as well. Sending to Stacy so he can post him if you would like would make it easier for people and then you would not have to do it individually.

Thanks for sharing!

Sent you a message.

Seeing how makers work is always helpful.
I always learn something from everyone. The day I quit learning is the day I need to retire.
If you could include me in the mailing I would greatly appreciate it. I have sent you an e-mail

Done, I hope you get some use from them.
