I am looking for a photo quality printer to make 5x7 prints. I have a printer that will do everything else but it is not photo quality. Anyone have any suggestions? If posible I would like to keep it to about $100-150. Thanks

Go with the Epson R300 or R320. Epson makes good quality photo printers. If you have the money you can go up to the R800 which is a serious jump in quality.

Currently i have an HP photo printer and it actually produces very good prints. I was quite surprised. And Epson is supposed to be better than that.

Thos small printers that only do photos are great. Especially the Epson and HiTouch ones. However, within your budget i don't think they make one that produces 5x7 prints. Most of 'em are for 6x4. And i think gloss only (not too sure about this one). If you want one that will print bigger than 6x4 then it will cost more.

Temper and point 44, thanks for the info. I guess 6x4 should be big enough for most uses.

We have a H/P 2175 machine that prints excellent photos up to 9X11 . you do have to buy photo quality paper though. Cost was under $200 & very well worth every cent. Think of time & money saved plus using gas to go to a photolab.

Just FYI, for 4x6 prints, it's very hard to beat the prices of DIY kiosks in places like WalMart and Costco with a home printer. When you shop for a photo printer, the price of consumables is just as important as the price of the printer. You can bring your memory card or a CDROM to a kiosk in a store and get 4x6 prints in for 19 cents each by the time you finish your shopping, and the store pays for the screw-ups. If time is not critical, you can upload your photos to an online service and get prints in less than a week for roughly the same price. Home photo printers are cool and convenient, but they're not necessarily the cheapest way to go.

I'll second the R300. I've had it for a year or two and it has printed everything I've thrown at it from low quality to photo quality without complaining and looking great!

There is a common catch. Cheaper the printer the more you pay on ink. Some printers have incredible outputs but are cartridge hungry and eat only the most expensive, tempting you to go for refills that work well for office use but are not that good on photos.

Most HPs and Epsons produce better prints than the photo input, so you will have to work on obtaining a good camera and improving techniques to warrant an upgrade in printer.

Canon have excellent photo printers, and are cheaper to run than many others becuase they take seperate ink cartrages for each color, so you don't have to replace all the colors when one is empty. I have the i860, but there are newer ones out there. Better warranty than HP, and in my family and my expereinces, longer lasting than the HP's, (and a lot cheaper to use).
