Does anyone have a pic of the back of these knives? I want to know what kind of backspacer each of them has. And while you're at it, tell me why I should get the Sequel 707 over the Mini-Grip :p

Thanks.

THG...

Sorry,
I don't have any pix, but I've had both knives. The Grip/mini-Grip series has a solid back. The scales come together instead of leaving an open space. The only open area is where the AXIS lock mechanism is located. IIRC, (and I may be wrong here), the 707 has an FRN backspacer between the liners.

The 707 has a very nice blade, I really liked that. Unfortunately, it was too thin for my taste. Even with liners and scales, it's a light, thin knife. It reminds me of Spyderco's Caly Jr.'s. Great slicers, easy to carry... but too light and thin for me.

707 is just plain nicer. Looks more refined, and the aluminum and G-10 handles feel more quality somehow.
Both will be as tough.
I'll do some pics later(maybe tomorrow) if someone else hasn't by then(I have family stuff to go do).

I picked up my 555HG on eBay for $50 and I would have to say for the money this tops any other $50 dollar knife I own.

I am a big Spyderco fan, so when Benchmade did their version of the spyderhole I fell in love.

The modified sheepsfoot blade makes for excellent slicing and has become my favorite blade style for all around light duty tasks.

Sorry this is the only pic I have right now, but I can tell you that you need not worry about the handles construction. With the axis lock and full steel liners, this $50 knife is built like a tank.

Hmmmmmmm.... The 707 Sequel looks so sleek, so elegant, but I'm having a hard time justifying the price...

Here ya go.:)

Thanks. I can't see exactly, though: it appears that there are 3 white dots or something on the back of the 707? What are they? And how far exactly does the backspacer go (the pic is a bit dark :o)?

But MAN is that 707 a nice knife... I know the answer is "get both," but one is gonna have to wait :grumpy:

I definitely prefer the spyderhole opening over the thumb-stud.

But that is just me.

The white spots are the skeletonized liner showing somehow, from the lighting(I need better lighting).
The backspacer goes as far as the first "dot.":)

707 vs. griptilian, the 707 wins for me. Awesome blade shape and slim handle. Love the huge blade in that tiny handle.

707 vs. the ritter griptilian, now that is a harder one. Can't really answer that all to well but I'd probably rather have the ritter over the 707 for EDC tasks.

One thing I would note about the 707 vs. the Mini-Grip is how they fit the hand. It's not apparent from the pictures, but I find that the Mini-Grip allows for all four fingers to fit better on the handle than the 707. From my handling of the two, the Mini-Grip allows all four fingers to fit on the handle as needed, whereas the 707 only allows maybe three and a quarter.

I'm sure others' hands fit the knives differently than mine, but this grip issue is why I have two Mini-Grips and no 707 (despite being very tempted on more than one occasion). That said, I do think the 707 looks much nicer than the Mini-Grip.

I agree. The 707 at first was awkward but you get used to it and it gets pretty comfortable. The grip has a much better...well...grip!
