Does anybody have both of these and would be willing to post a comparison pic or two?
Thanks in advance!

Hang on guys, I'll go take a couple photos. Downloading them to a photo share site will take the longest.

Here's to start. I reversed the layout on the second photo just in case they look different in some way.

***All but photo #3 have the knives lined up by the tips of their blades. Photo #3 was lined up where the grind/tangs meet.

That is absolutely perfect, thank you!
I've been trying for days to decide between exactly those three knives and pics say a thousand words. Thanks again.

Every time I see the Mark 1 I like it more! Maybe the stacked leather one just for some style.

Deepfry, so now you know you're going to have to tell us which one you decided on!

I almost went with the stacked leather model, and now wish I had. The rubber handle is very comfortable and practical, but nothing says Ka-Bar faster than stacked leather.

Deepfry,
One consideration I forgot to mention yesterday is the feel of the two handle styles. In MY opinion, the USN Mk1 has a much better feel than the BK16/17 if held in a hammer grip. It's OK in a saber grip, but very comfortable in a hammer. The BK16/17 are very comfortable in a saber grip, but quickly lose that comfort when transitioning to a hammer. So IMO the Mk1 technically has a little more versatility (in grip comfort anyway) than the BKs do. It will ultimately boil down to what you plan to use the knife for, and what techniques you use with a knife. For batonning and fuzzy sticks, the Mk1 is probably a little more comfortable. For everything else, the BKs have the edge---------for my hands at least. As you can see in the photos, my knives are still new, so for now this is just theory based on experience. Please read it as opinion and not gospel. :)

To toss in my two cents, liners make a huge difference with the way the BK 15, 16, & 17 feel. Just a 1mm liner on each side under the scales can drastically change how comfortable the knife is in hand.

I actually did a comparison review between the two.

And I agree with derekh's comment about the liners. The BK17 was a bit to thin in the hand for me stock, but I tried out a small liner on it and it made quite a big difference.

I liked using the MK1 for sure, but the only "problem" I had with it was really the ricasso. It keeps your hands farther away from the work than I think it really needs to be. Its not a deal breaker, but the BK17 let me get much closer to the action.

Anyway, good luck making a choice. The upside is that they're both great so its hard to lose :).

Well I finally pulled the trigger.
After much deliberation, consideration, and pontification, I went with the...

Mora HighQ Robust :o

quietly slips out the back

No shame there Deepfry. You never said you won't end up with a BK at some point. I have way over a dozen Moras and love 'em. They're an incredible value in the knife world IMO. That said, the two BKs you were considering are little sweeties, and a void will remain in your life until you own them. :D
