Nice long thread title.

I'm looking for pictures from anyone who has a two knife sheath where the small knife is positioned at an angle instead of straight up and down. I think Bark River did something like that with the micro canadian. I'd like to see anyone else's interpretation of the design.

I love, love, love my JRE piggyback that holds my Chopweiler and Swampwarden. The ONLY gripe I have, however, is that since the swampwarden is perfectly inline with the chopweiler, I have to unsnap the chopweiler's retention strap in order to pull the swampwarden out. If I cocked the small knife at an angle, I should be able to pull it out without the big knife's strap or handle or anything getting in the way.

Also... for whomever has leather over kydex sheaths, what are your thoughts on that? I think it might be nice to have the functionality of kydex with the look of leather. I hate retention straps because I always feel like I'm going to cut them off when I pull the knife out. Plus they stick out making the rig fatter.

Thanks!

Shoot. You know this would probably be better placed in the general knife discussion forum.

If a moderator sees this, could you move it?

Thanks!

That's the idea, exactly. Thanks!

Any others from anyone else? Leather? I wonder if it could be done easily in leather. The kydex makes it easy because of the ability to screw the small sheath on however you want.

Bark River has a setup where you piggyback a larger blade like the Bravo to one of their smaller one like the mikro canadian. I use to have that rig but no longer. Sorry, no pics.

I was told this in the Marine Corps..."the only stupid question is the one that's never asked" so here goes....if you're carrying a big knife, why the hell do you need a smaller one for?????????

Here are some of my setups. There are not at an extreme angle, but just enough that I can get the smaller knife out easily.

Those are great Varg!

That's what I'm getting at about no straps. With no strap the small knife doesn't need an extreme angle.

As to why carry a small knife, I do lots of intricate cutting like making traps. A lot of times a large blade is too cumbersome. A lot would use their edc fixed or folder. I like to have the small knife right on the sheath with my large knife.

I've posted this before, but here's my chopweiler/swampwarden combo. I LOVE it, but without popping that retention strap it's really tough to getthe swampwarden out.

That's a nice looking setup!

I do have a little problem on my Bravo-1/PSK knife setup(the one on the far left). Sometimes I have to twist the firesteel to get the PSK knife out.

Here's my piggyback setup. It's really easy to draw both knives and resheath them when you're done. It's a Swamp Rat Howling Rat and a BRKT Mikro Canadian II piggybacked with a ranger band (i.e. bike inner tube)

These were done nicely, in my opinion. :)

Not a great disparity in size however.

Here is what is under the double sheath set in the above picture.
(Hope is does not mind me posting them :o)

A Krein TK-4 and his new model hand axe/skinner/chopper.

Didn't notice it before but the handles nest together.
Quite well thought out.
It appears the new axe's handle closely resembles his Bushcraft model's...
