Hey folks, this is my first time posting pictures so I hope this turns out ok. Sorry for the quality, I'm using an Olympus Tough. Hope this works out and I welcome any feedback. Thanks.

This one was an experiment that didn't work. I was trying to difuse my flash a little so put my finger over it. Didn't work the I wanted but I thought it looked cool.

Special thanks to yablaknowitz and Samael for walking me through this and making it possible. Thanks guys.

Nice. So how's the knife working out for you? Are you edc'ing it, etc.

It's great. I do EDC it but I have only had it for a few weeks. It does keep its edge very well though. I have used it to open boxes and used it to whittle down a piece of old pallet when I got bored. It was still as sharp as the day I pulled it out of the box. So far I'm very happy with it. I can't wait to get back to the states and have a go at the edge with my WickedEdge. I think it will be crazy sharp after that.

Yep, its a good knife. Ive got the black/part serrated model. It seems to me, that they run their D2 hard

Been a long time since I formally got educated on knots, is that daisy chaining I see in the background?

Sweet. Looks like I haven't forgotten everything. BTW how do those large craters in the handle feel like?

And also I love your signature. Good to see another brown coat

They are pretty good. I don't really notice them unless I have gloves on. If you have gloves on and grab the knife it is like having it glued to your hand unless you want it to move. Seems like without gloves it provides a little grip but the softer fabric or leather of gloves actually fills the divits in and really makes for a great grip.

Ah yes, for me reputation is not just talk, no?

Does anybody have any input on the photos? What I did wrong/bad, could have done better? I would like to get to the point that I can put photos up there people would actually like to look at. Thanks.

Im no pro photographer but this is what has worked for me.

In the first pic you've got paracord covering the blade. The centerpiece of the image is the knife, no need to cover it up with stuff. It would also look better if you zoomed in...no need to waste the picture space on the background. Generally speaking, getting close is a good thing.

The other pics suffer from the flash. Lose the flash unless you know what you're doing OR you own a removable flash so its not firing head-on. Pictures always look best with natural light. Try taking some pics by the window, where natural light spills in, yet still out of direct sunlight.

Try to study knife pictures you like and notice what makes them nice, then emulate.

Just my 2 cents.

Keep the background light in color and simple. A complicated background makes it hard to see the outline of the knife.

Do you think it is better to move physically closer to the knife or to zoom in or does it make a difference? Right now I'm limited with the camera I have, but back home I have a Cannon or Nikon or something with different lenses and filters so I will use that when I can. I think I will have to invest in a flash for the nice camera. Thanks for the feedback, every bit helps.

generally i would recommend moving physically closer to the knife instead of zooming as long as you're not so close that the camera won't focus properly. If you're using a tripod or propping the camera on something it doesn't matter so much. At the risk of sounding like every single beginning photography teacher and book, try to remember the rule of thirds. If you've never heard of it, google it. The rule of thirds isn't any kind of definitive solution but at the very least it makes you think about the framing of the photo and is a good trick for beginning photographers. and yeah, ditch the flash, find good lighting and try to make sure the knife is the primary subject of the photo. I've got nothing against stuff in the background as long as it isn't so noisy it detracts from the knife.

oh yeah: cool photos :) I like the first one the best but i agree about the daisy chain being in front of the knife detracting from the photo. i'm not familiar with the knife, how is it holding up? looks sturdy. are you in the armed forces?

I have only had it a few weeks but so far yes it is great. Holds an edge pretty well, but the edge it came with wasn't amazing by any standard but it was functional. I am really anxious to get it on my Wicked Edge sharpener. Yes I have been in for almost 11 years.

I'm curious where you heard about the knife and what made you decide to get it? it doesn't seem to be that widely known. I actually think it's quite handsome for it's utility. I wouldn't mind having one myself. maybe i'll get one instead of a ZT.

I didn't actually hear about it, I saw it in the, forgive my spelling, Deustcher PX. I actually bought the A1 first about three months ago and it got stolen, so I bought this one as a replacement. I talked the guy down decently so it was less than anywhere I could find on the web. It is a pretty handy knife, I think it is a great size for EDC.
