Hopefully Craig will forgive me for broaching this topic again.

I have generally stopped posting images to this site waiting for the dust to settle. I do not want start down a new road and end up hitting another photobucket dead end, so for now I am trying to minimize creating new links which may have to repair again in the future. The 20MB (edited) that comes with gold membership is inadequate and would eventually require deleting older images if your album is full. I have not found a description of how the image gallery is managed on this site. I think the cry for finding another FREE hosting site such as Imgur is short sighted. If the service is free, you are not the customer, you are the product, you are being data mined. Hobby forum administrators need to step up and recognize that the historical image database is where the value is, not just the textual data, and become proactive about helping find a solution. In the short term, that is not going to happen.

Moving on. Has anyone seen this image hosting site? ImgZeit....
Seems to be new site designed specifically for image hosting to forums.... $11 per year. Makes use of Amazon S3 cloud storage. So far this is the only site I can find where I can become a paying customer for a reasonable fee that is specifically offering image hosting to forum users. ie. they want my business. Going forward, I think the 'paying' part is very important for longevity. I have not found any independent reviews yet so the site must be very new. I inquired and payment is by Credit Card, I was hoping for PayPal. Leery of giving my CC# over to an unknown site but for $11 I would like to play with their product. They support IMG links.

Disclaimer, No, I have not subscribed yet, still trying to find out as much about it as I can but it is the closest thing I have found to what I am looking for.

None business people seem to be going to IMGUR. John.

Like I said, short sighted. Imgur is no solution either...from Imgur Terms of Service...

....don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network.....

Alternative sites like Imgur presently let you get away with linking images but if they are swamped with PhotoBucket exiles, they might just up their own enforcement of existing TOS.

Thanks, for the information. I'm trying to sign up... Preston

Thanks, Desotosky.
Any info helps.
A lot of us (the ones who don't post as many pics) could probably get along with a Gold membership especially if we resize to the smallest level that still shows up good.
Anybody have an idea how many decent sized pics you could post on a Gold?
Has anybody ever hit their max on Gold and ...... what happened at that time?

Gold gives you 20MB of "media gallery". What I'm not sure of is what is allowed if you do a direct "upload a file" from you computer to a post and bypass the media gallery. I imagine I'll find out one of these days.

Thanks for the correction Bert, yes it is 20MB not 2MB for gold membership. Probably enough for a casual poster. Myself, I have been an overactive poster to this site, 1650 images taking up about 160MB in less than 7 years. At that rate, I would use up my 20MB in 10 months to a year. A number of images have been posted more than once but ignoring that, 20MB equals about 200 images for me.
My image size lately been 800 or 1024 in width.

Concerning the media gallery, the few images I have posted recently were direct from my desktop not using the Gallery. /Roger

Sounds like for most of us the Gold membership would offer enough room for pictures.
If enough of us start to run out of room, we could always start a petition for BladeForums to give us more Megabytes. It benefits them as well as us because lots of good pictures make for a more attractive forum.

I don't post a lot of photos but I'm using the "Upload a File" method until I can't use it anymore. I just don't know if or when that will ever happen.

As far as I know, old posts and threads are never deleted. If that's the case then there must not be a bandwidth limit on text. I'm hoping it's the same with photos but I really have no idea.

I was bitten by photobucket about 8 months before the latest debacle. I went to Flickr and have not looked back. It's easy, free and I like it.

Hey, Nic from ImgZeit here. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

Going forward, I think the 'paying' part is very important for longevity.

This is truly the only way to ensure long term sustainability.

I have not found any independent reviews yet so the site must be very new

Very new! Built in response to the Photobucket debacle about a month ago.

Welcome Nic. Nic has been great helping me get signed in to his site. I hope you will hang around and get a few Bucks knives. Preston

Does anyone here use amazon? Since my wife already has an account I might use that if it works.

Amazon works but it doesn't work.

Has been discussed on one of the other recent threads about this.

Your photos appear here and then vanish within 24 hours.

Get thee a Gold or at least a Basic membership and post directly from your computer as discussed above.

Been using it for years.

Thanks for pointing that one out. Looked it over and on the surface it sure looks like a good deal but for longterm I don't see how the business model is any different than PhotoBucket. Free service being supported ads. You are not the customer.

The breaking of 1600 image links represented a lot of lost work on my part and loss of information to the forum. I'm wanting something that is here for the future, not what works right now.

Gee Preston, you are just like my dog Sadie, always rushing to be in front... :)
I guess that makes you the Beta tester. Post some test pictures to this thread and report to us how it went.... /Roger

Glad to be there for you, Roger:D. I haven't been signed in yet, Nic is still working on it. Preston
