What's up with Photobucket? My hosting has been 'temporarily' disabled, because of 100% #3rd party hosting usage. Isn't that what PB is for???? New policy?
Seems to me, they are just looking to make you pay. I got the same notice, they asked me to upgrade. Photobucket has nearly become unusable anyway, with all those pop-ups,,,
ETA: Yup, they want me to sign up for their plus 500 plan. EXTORTION
I haven't gotten a "disabled" notice yet, but I've mostly used Imgur lately because Photobucket doesn't work well anymore. They've larded it up with so much junk that it's gotten super slow and it's always crashing the browser.
I have a paid PB account so no issue on this front, they are however a pain in the a#se at times. If it were not for the 1000 +/- pics I have hosted there and the pain to re-link them all I would have changed by now.
I got rid of my pb account for similar reasons. I use tumblr or imgur now. Free and no fakarsing around. And much quicker. Their severs are built to handle big data loads. As far as all the broken links go in previous threads? Oh well, too bad. I just started fresh.
I just googled this and on a few other forums people are saying Photobucket changed their terms of service in the last couple of weeks. Now you have to get the 500GB plan for $399 if you want '3rd party hosting' (being able to display your photos on other web sites, like bladeforums). Not sure if this is universal or a permanent change, but if it is it kind of feels like they're holding people's photos to ransom.
Looking at the TOS now I see that the plan I am on no longer exists. I paid a year upfront in April. I am assuming (and we know how that can go) that once my plan expires I will end up needing to spend the extortion that they call fees now. I will NOT be with them by then, I need to go through and save all my pics from there before they make it too hard to do so.
