I noticed recently that Photobucket will provide stats on your top 5 viewed pix (on free accounts), so I check this occasionally. I just took a peek, and two fairly older pix of mine somehow just spiked up into the top 5...

This one:

And this one:
CS_Ironwood-SFNO_Outside-Front.jpg

The stats will also show you the top 2 sites that your pix were viewed on and the site that racked up the majority of hits is a firearms forum in Russia. Thinking that this was kinda strange & interesting, I hunt down the thread on 'talk.guns.ru'. I'm having a bit of trouble following the thread, even translated, but it seems that it is a thread about Busse's and what might be... stress on might as I'm not sure, a russian knife maker's Active Duty... copy? Looks like the real thing, so it might just be modded There's a few other familiar pix on the thread too.

Not looking to start anything, just found it interesting & odd. Has anyone else found their Busse pix in other forums in foreign lands before? Can anyone do a better translation of the thread??

You can check it out here if you want (translated version):

Mods... I hope that I'm within BladeForums guidelines here concerning cross-forum posting. I didn't post this I am with the intention of starting anything ugly. If I am not, please let me know and I will edit the content and lock this down. :)

LOL... man that hurts to read... babel fish sucks:)

i am definitly not an expert but it looks like a mod to me... there seemed to be some discussion regarding the warranty and whether it was voided by the work

that is some amazing detective work sir!

I have this buyer that has purchased many knives mostly microtech from me, he then brings them back to Russia and then sells them there. I think about a month ago, he bought two of them, so I'm guessing they are worth pretty good money there. He deals mainly in high end stuff and I think got a BAD and a custom shop meaner from me. I'm not surprised...

WOW....the translated website is horrible...

"Theme trying and to copy to the customer it does not stand - on the wedge not his (customer) mark. Often by phrase “thus they ordered” it is covered much: from the not entirely successful solution in the design (and even “stripping” of the afore-mentioned), continuing “by door posts” (”… customer rapidly he wanted… “) and up to frank [bezdarshchiny] and other horrors. And this is magic phrase, like as, is removed the part of the responsibility for the produced product!!!

Laughter through the tears! If master undertook work, besides it is unimportant: on the sketch of customer or on its own will - precisely it completely answers both for the design and for his filling.
Repeated whose- that work for itself/comrade - it is sad, but general it is permissible, and if the author still was accessible for the connection - having preliminarily regulated a question to them.
True, here with each new alliteration increasingly more sadly it becomes for the talented master, “who feels line”, but persistently repeating strange [obrisy]"

I got a headache just trying to read the first few posts

A BAD and MEANER is about the size limit he could take in there with no big hassles. I lived there 2 years.. never found ANY decent knives! They are not allowed anything close to a ASH size... or even a BATAC size! That's a "weapion" and just not gonna work!

I was given a handmade knife (made in a Russian Prison) as a gift.... when I tried to takeit on the plane, in checked baggage, they stopped me (they xray all bags being checked, while you wait) and made me take it out (the knife that is) and said it's illegal. Said I had to give it to them (F'ers) but my Father in law was still within eye sight and we got him to take it.... surprised that they let him keep it! It was about 6 inch blade with stag handle... not too good, but a gift.

I REALLY would love to take a half dozen Busse's there... it would pay for my trip for sure!!

I had someone publish my XM-18 Gen 3 pics on a German knife forum a while back. The poster wrote to me first though and asked my permission which I of course granted. We chatted back and forth for a while, he was a real nice guy.

He gave me attribution in the thread too:

Great, Jaxx. You just instigated an international "incident."

googles translator is way better. still doesn't achieve any level of grammatical accuracy, but subject verb relationships are easier to gather and understand.

The knife in the picture from the initial thread is not a modified busse, it's done from scratch by the maker. I have no idea if he's a seller or not, but I figured that clarification was worth posting. Given that he put a makers mark on it, I would assume that his intent is to sell it at some point. the thread link that shows the knife in progress:

whats the original link? Will have a read and let you know what the story is.

Here ya go... It's 4 pages long and this link should take you to page #1. :)
Please let us know if you can provide a better translation.

Ok, read the first few pages.
As far as I understand, the post is by a knife maker who has copied a Busse AD for a client - i.e., the client brought in drawings and pics and the knife maker copied knife. Even the thread title is "Inspired by Busse part 2". Part 1 is here and contains some photos of another Busse look-alike in progress http://talks.guns.ru/forummessage/97/462058.html

As you can see, he does not hide the fact that it is a copy of Busse and, as a result, quite a few people are not impressed. There are others that praise the knife maker for his skills.
That's pretty much it.

It's a good rendition--I'll leave it to others to debate the obvious lack of merit creating a forgery implies--but I SERIOUSLY doubt it'll perform with INFI!

Just do the old switcheroo on him, Amy - :D - He WILL cease and desist! ;)
