Guys, I am trying to work something out that I used to be able to do with photochop and its driving me nuts.

I have some text on a single layer, the layer is transparent and what I want when I put it into a webpage is for the text only and not the white box around it to be visible. The file I have is a .psd and it looks like it should work (gray and white checkers in the layer) but when its viewed in the webpage software it displays the white background.

What can I do?:(

I'm no expert here but won't you need to save the file as a transparent GIF, (as opposed to a .psd)?

correct....make sure you flatten the layers (if you have more than one) and save it as a .gif. You'll see something in the "save as" box asking you if you want to "preserve transparency".
