Photographing the clouds in pearl

Lighting, lighting, lighting... just like location, location, location in real estate. It's the most important thing. The unique structure of the mop used in a knife's handle has to be discerned by the photographer who then aims his/her lights just right, so the clouds really come out. I only recently learned how to do this and it's fun. Here's the one I did last night that turned out nice.

Addendum: After making this photograph it dawned on me that the pattern in the pearl on the bottom right is the 'negative' of the pattern in the middle image!!! I presume this is the result of rotating the pearl 180 degrees under the same lighting used for the middle image. That is remarkable!

Wow, yes it is the "negative" and yes it most certainly is remarkable...

Let's not overlook the depth you've captured in the top image.
